6.4 in a real work truck

They are finally getting into the hands of some people who just work the crap out of a truck and only want it to run.

I took a long trip over the weekend, drove to Vegas and back from Ohio. (never again)

Met several people with a 6.4L who simply use them as a tool. I'd chat with them at truck stops and rest areas when posible. EVERYONE of them loved the new engine and truck. Several were 450's.
One farmer was hauling those massive square bales of hay on a truck. The JD tractor was in front of him at the FlyingJ that baled the hay. I'd call him a "real" farmer. The truck hadn't been washed since he bought it, you could grow corn in the dirt on the floor.

He loved it, good power and never failed to run properly.

I think I'll add a few next year to our fleet here, I've heard no bad reports.

As for the trucks with black tail pipes, I'd couny myself as lucky and go on. Less backpressure

Re: 6.4 in a real work truck

There's a guy on a dodge forum I frequent that got a new '08 ford for a work truck. At first he was talking about how he thought it would be a terrible underpowered pile, and he was gonna dog it out to break it so his boss would understand he should have gotten a dodge, etc etc. I told him that a bunch of people here seem to not be having any trouble with them, and that they aren't underpowered. Well, last I read he's grudgingly coming around-he reports no trouble with it in severe service along with good power. I think he's finally realizing that dodge isn't the only company that makes a good truck. Now if everyone who's blindly brand loyal would come to the same realization...

Re: 6.4 in a real work truck

The oil patch is using the crap out of the 6.4 trucks. Have not heard much whining except they use more fuel than the 6.7
I need a new cab and chassis truck and havent decided yet. No question on what the wifes new truck will be.
