There was talk a few years ago about Ford's Cleveland Casting plant possibly casting a diesel block in the future. Ford has plenty of engien assembly capacity and plenty of iron casting capacity.

Ford and Nav are under contract together until 2112.
That's 5 model years.

Told us the 6.4 will be a 2 - 3 year run and there are already plans for Ford to step in after that and make their own again diesel (Catepillar?).

Where do you get "Caterpiller" as "own"?
Unless I was sleeping and Bill Gates bailed out Ford last night, Did Ford aquire Caterpillar?
Having said that, Ford is on the brink of financial disaster, and are in no position to fund a diesel engine program of their own.

I've heard this rumor too. If it's true or not, who knows.
I've also heard the rumor that the "new" truck design will have a grill that lifts with the hood. Why? Because it makes it easier to remove the radiator/cooler assembly. Why? Because it will be required to loosen/remove the radiator to change the fan belt. At least, that's the rumor I heard. I guess we'll see.
Having worked at large companies I always find it odd that the companies that I and my buddies worked for were always very closed mouth about things that were up and comming. Confidential, Secret, and Top Secret. Confidential was not public knowledge. Secret was on need to know basis only. Top Secret was Executive mgmt, project mgmt, etc. and was on need to know basis only. Heck, people did not want to know as it makes it even more difficult and dangerous to trade stocks on the company(s) involved.

I'd like to clarify that statement in black and white. I work for the company that Ford's new CEO just left. I can assure y'all that the knuckle head that made this announcement did NOT have Alan Mulally's or Ford's blessing and might just find himself working for Yugo for even making such a statement to ANYONE, publicly or privately. Based on that I suspect that there is NO BASIS for his claims what-so-ever. Such business announcements are INSIDER information and it is ILLEGAL for anyone to make them because they are seen as deliberate stock manipulation by the securities and exchange commission. If you don't believe that, ask Alan how many BILLION DOLLARS mishandling of information and being sneaking cost his former employer over the last few years-and how many people got sacked or sent to prison for being involved.
Much to his outstanding credit, Alan had nothing to do with what went on. He's a fantastic leader and based on his track record, I would surmise that Ford will soon become quite profitable once again under his fine leadership. Our loss, Ford's gain- and that's public information.
