7 year / 200,000 mile Warranty & Clutch Squeek

I just wanted to inform all of you great diesel owners that you should not pay $2,200 for the 7 year / 200,000 mile Warranty. I picked it up from a different dealer that I bought it from, and different from where I get my service work done, for $1,650.00. The offer my service dealer sent me was $1,800. So if you are thinking of making the leap, go armed. I have 19,500 miles and change on her so this included the $100 surcharge.

On the second subject, tomorow I take my truck in for some work. The clutch squeeks like hard rubber on smooth steel. I isolated the sound to the actuator that is attached to the clutch pedal and firewall. It is loud enough to hear while at highway speed. Also, my passenger doors are scraping at the top. They were close when I purchased them, but now they are hitting and the paint is being scratched. Both problems should be warranty work.

Is that the power train extension only? Sounds too cheap for the bumper to bumper. I did some research and it seams Ford has several different offerings. Thanks for the info.

That is only the engine. I did not pay for the bumper to bumper...too much money. But the engine is worth covering for the time vs. cost.

Each time I have taken the truck in, the clutch never squeeks. Today I was driving home from work and it was squeeking really good. I drove out of my way to the dealer and had the service guy listen. He said now he knows and will talk to the tranny guy tomorrow. So in addition to loosing it for a few days to get the passenger doors adjusted and painted (moved in hinges and are scraping at top of doors), now I have to leave it so they can work on the clutch hydraulics.

I thought there was two different 7year/200k for the 6.4l in addition to the Bumper to Bumper. One of them covered more engine componenets than the other one. They probably just sold you the cheaper one.

Negative, I have the better warranty. On the form FCS-8600-SD(2) (SEP 2007), Section C has Ford Super Duty Diesel EngineCARE Plus checked with the 12,000 mile surcharge checked as well. It expires 09/03/2014 or 200,000 miles, which ever comes first. (Starting mileage was 19,080 on 05/26/08) I may not be an expert on diesels yet, but I am not a fool and am fully capable of reading before I sign.

Clutch

Took in the truck on Tues and they got it in the bay on Wed morning. They said they called Ford Tech Support and no one has brought in a truck for my issues. They told the dealer to replace the master cylinder, bleed the system, and see if that corrects the issue. No parts places had the cylinder, so Ford overnighted it to the dealer, they got it at 2:30 today. Should be all done by tomorrow at noon. I am curious to see what they have to do to get it done. Also, this is not covered under the 60k powertain factory warranty! So I hope this is the last time this happens. I will keep ya posted.

Picked up the truck this morning. The reason I took it is is fixed, but now there is another noise. Happens when you depress the clutch through the play and into action (20% in). Sounds like rubber on metal again in the firewall. Took it back after 30 test miles to see if it would go away. Spent 3 hours in the bay with the tech. He put flet, greased everything, and still could not get it fixed. He is ordering a clutch pedal assembly this time. Will be two weeks, since next week I get my right doors fixed.

Just some FYI, the new clutch master cylinder comes from Ford complete, so the pedal actuator all the way down to the clutch actuator, full of fluid! No bleeding needed, just install the system. Tech said he never seen something like that. It works, just makes a new noise. I will keep you posted.
