? about '08

I got to check out a few '08 SD PS today. They all had a funky looking exhaust tip that split right at the end. Do all the new 6.4L PS have this? Is there a function or just for looks? Just curious.

Re: ? about '08

From what i understand yes they all do. because the catalytic converters have fuel injected into them to keep the carbon out, and the heat temp was boiling the paint out of the tip.

Re: ? about '08

Well, you got pretty close.....

The diesel particulate filter (DPF) is the last step before the tailpipe. During an active regeneration, the exahust gases leaving the DPF can exceed 1100 degrees. The diffusers on the end of the tailpipes draw cool, ambient air into the exhaust stream to reduce the temps.

Looking at it pragmatically... the bean counters will not allow the engineers to do something with no reason.

Thanks for the info. Sounds complicated. Since I couldn't afford one anyway, I will stick with what I have.

Ok since no one else is gonna say it I will. Try searching next time there are about a thousand threads talking about the exhaust.

No offense by the way
