I have the stock air filter and i've never changed it i have 2 years and 43k on the truck and i keep waiting for my display to say something about it being time for me to change it but i hasn't said anything yet. Is this normal when are you guys changing your air filter?
Depends on the conditions in which you drive your truck. It's not abnormal to go 50k miles before you *have* to replace your filter. As long as your filter minder says you're good to go, then you're good to go.

yea just keep an eye on the monitor. We have 53k on our 6.0 and the monitor has not even moved. This is one of the reasons everybody says to not play with the original filter/intake. It is an amazing filter cartridge, well worth its cost. Don't worry about it just keep an eye on the monitor. The 6.0 and 6.4 are similar filters.
Good grief, man... 30 minutes to replace an AIR FILTER? I can do it in 1 minute.
Than you don't have an '04 6.0. It takes forever! And then the housing may not be closed at the seams.

Do you offer the same advice for the fuel filters? I have 24k miles on mine now and haven't done anything but change the oil and fill it up with diesel. I feel like I'm neglecting it but as mentioned earlier, I haven't gotten a message, or any indication that anything needs to be done.

Absolutely, the filter can be out in less than 60 seconds - it is the first part out in many repairs. Knowing how to remove the assembly is the key, having a pair of pliers and a screw driver or an 8mm socket and ratchet in hand is the first step. Here is a guide for you --> 6.0L Power Stroke Air Filter Removal

You really ought to start your own thread because this *is* about air filters, but there isn't a general dummy light or message telling you to do any particular preventive maintenance for your truck. BTW, the interval for changing your fuel filters, for non-severe use, is 20k miles. If you use the truck severely, then if I recall it's 200 engine hours or 10k miles whichever comes first (I don't recall because I'm not severe).
The air filter in our truck, I don't think has a specified interval like everything else in our truck. You have the water-in-fuel indicator, but if you've waited that long since you've drained your water separator, chances are pretty good that you should be prepared for problems with your truck.
A diesel truck is not like other trucks. They're high maintenance vehicles, that, with proper maintenance will provide you with years of service. Proper maintenance means *checking* your air filter minder, changing your fluids at factory-specified intervals, and draining your water/fuel separator every month at a minimum! Please re-read your diesel supplement guide that came with your truck and view the video.

Suggest re-read of the diesel supplement, particularly the section "special operating conditions". Nearly any "normal" use of one of these trucks will fall into one of more of the "special operating conditions".
If your only use of the truck consists of starting it, immediately driving 50 highway miles at 65mph, then parking and immediately shutting it off, all while carrying no cargo and towing nothing, then you might not fall into the "special operating conditions", otherwise you almost certainly do.
