With 1400 miles, my mileage is up to 13. That's interstate driving and keeping it under 65. The truck weighs 9000#'s and aerodynamic as a brick. It's still the best pickup I've ever had.
With 9600 miles I'm getting about 15.0 mpg on freeway running empty staying at 65 mph or less. That also means taking it as easy as possible; keeping the turbo psi under 10.

I could not agree more. Wed. night coming home from Lex. on I75 set the cruise at 70 and averaged 10.6, on the two lane set cruise at 55 and averaged 15.9. Definately a rolling brick.

I just got done riding with my friend and his new 08 F-450 dully. He drove it like grandpa and babied it the whole time, never going over the speed limit. his truck has about 12,000 miles on it and we drove empty for about 450 miles and then hooked to a trailer and pulled it back. Driving empty we averaged 11.2 MPG and loaded with a cattle trailer and about 8,000 pounds worth of cattle we averaged 9.8 MPG. I was impressed with the power and for what kind of truck it is the mileage was not to bad either. I just feel that it is impossible for some people on here to try and say they get 15 MPG out of a F-450 it cant be possible. I remember everyone saying how horrible the new trucks were on fuel mileage a couple months ago and now suddenly everyone says they have a sudden increase in mileage by dramatic changes. Maybe rounding some numbers on your trip meter to the higher hundred number can help you get that mileage. I cant see any of the new emissions trucks able of getting any good fuel mileage any more. When the magazines test the trucks and get lower numbers on their MPG then anyone claims on these sites then the numbers are wrong somewhere.
I didn't believe it either but it continually happens on my drive home. Set the cruise at 55 or under and these numbers are there. Try that on yours, I mean your friends, and see what happens. Don't slow down or speed up just let his truck run.

My freinds 450 has 4.88 rears in it. That could also have something to do with it. I will tell him to keep it around 55 next time I ride with him and see what it gets. If it can do numbers like you all are saying then it would make sense to get a 450 instead of a 350. At least you can pull allot more with the 450 then a 350 can and never have to worry about to much pin weight and overloading the rear axle's GAWR.
Is it really hard to believe a truck going only 50mph can get 15mpg?
But, that isnt really "getting 15mpg" as most consumers would say it, now is it? Real-world drivers don't like going 50mph. Or 60. Or even 65 for that matter.
Its all about 65-75mph that matters. "Real world" numbers.
I can drive my old 1983 F250 diesel 45 mph and get 23mpg. Whoopie. Who whants to go that slow?? At 65, it drops to 18.
let's see, the last time I checked 65-75 was 10 to 20 over the limit where I live. Can I send you the ticket. Just give me your address or a bank routing number. I would think for the HP an '83 model should get 35mpg.
