That's pretty slow dragging a 5er down the interstate.

There seems to be some quirks that allow some trucks to do better than others. Talked with a good friend who got fed up with his 06' Ford and bought a new Dodge. He says he's really chapped now...claims the best he has done with his 3500 is 10.2 empty. Even with my 37's I get a hand calculated 12.7 empty around town and up to 16 on the highway. Thanks to the DPF, regardless of Make, we all seem to be suffering.

I spent some time lurking on the Dodge and Dmax boards and the mileage they talk about does not seem much differant than the PSD's.

well my mileage has not gotten any better. i have never experienced any "better mileage after break in" on any of my trucks. they have steadily gotten the same or a bit worse. i am at 26k now, and i am lucky to get 7 pulling my rig, and thats really taking it easy. usually its about 6. empty around town is really bad. its like 9.5 maybe 10, i stopped checking it, but i am filling up a lot more these days, only gettng about 320 out of a tank. and no there is nothing wrong with the truck, it is always serviced and the fuel filters changed and such. air filter too. it just sucks fuel. i have decided to trade it in june, as i have been working out of town and won't be done with that until end of may. it really sucks because i like my truck. but its just too much money these days. will be getting a dodge this time around.

Last night I pulled 280 miles, first half with empty goose. Elevation changes from 5,400' to just over 8,000' then back down low as I started from. 8.3 mpg meter, loaded small hoe, reset meter, back home over same road reading 4.4 mpg for the first 19 miles pulling uphill, then finished up at 8 mpg flat rolling home into the yard. 60 mph average speed, coasting in neutral down the moderate hills, weighing at 31,000 loaded, bone stock truck, accurate meter and fueling at 4.49 a gal makes me feel like hanging Al Gore frome my ginpoles.

I pull a Hitchhiker Discover America in my business about 5 to 6 months per year. I installed MorRyde IS Axles and Kodiak Disc Brakes with a HD3000 Actutor. I'm back using my early 99 F-350 SRW, after trying a 2003 & 2005 6.0 liter trucks. The 03 was OK, but the 05 was better. I never got much more than 10 mph while pulling. With 4:10 gears in the DWR, it was great into a head wind, but could never run down the road all day at 70 mph and maintain more than 8.5 mpg. Since going back to my 99 with 3:73 gearing, I sacrifice the stability of duals, but have more power and can run all day at 70 to 75 on the interstate hwys and maintain 9.5 to 10 mpg. I think once I update my turbo, I should gain 2 to 3 mpg, if I put the right application in. I also need to get with DP to reflash to his new 80 hp towing mode, which should help. However, my old 7.3 broke on Thursday, so don't know what the new motor will do until I get some miles on it. I scale out at about 25, 300 on the scales. My RV axle weight is 12,200 or so. I think the trailer weighs 15,200. I use Diesel Serve every 3rd tank or so. Have tried the cetane booster, but don't see much results vs cost. Saw a number of posts this weekend on this site about DP's new 80 hp tow, so am going to call him first thing. Kybo

Well I towed my 38' Raptor (15,000#) w/ my F-450 w/4.30 rear for the first time this last weekend and I got 8 mpg which I didn't think was to bad considering I averaged 65-70 mph.
