Any 450-550 chassis cab mileage numbers?

Looking at a new truck, would be a crew cab 4x4 with a 11' sevice body. I have a friend that has a 350 pickup with a 6.4 and his overhead said 8.6mpg, another landscaper friend has a 450 reg cab dump 4x4 with a plow console reads 5.6mpg?? My question is anyone with the chassis cabs getting above 10 mpg empty? Then I have a 6.0 with 4.88 rear end any differance with the 4.30? I drove a dodge 4500, truck to truck, the ford is 2200 less in price and at ford there is 0% vs dodges 7.99%. The truck at dodge I test drove was a reg cab flat bed 4x4 auto, the overhead said 11.9 if you put it to the floor it went down to 8.7 and it seemed like it was governed at 76 mph? I just dont want to buy the ford and get 7-8mpg. Also the dodges steering felt really funny, you had to "herd" it down the road, the exhaust brake, brakes, tranny felt really good. The ford has way more room in the back seat vs the dodge. Any help would be great.

08 F550 chassis cab with pickup bed.
9320 lbs empty (no driver, full fuel).

15-17 mpg at 55 to 58mph, flat, unloaded.
13-14 mpg at 68mph, steady cruise

10mpg average when I'm driving crazy.

9.5 mpg with a 5,500 lb Lance camper on the back. (several thousand mile average). I usually drive about 55 to 62mph.

I have the 4.88 rear end and 325/600 auto trans combo. Job 1.

I would imagine a service body would do better than me just because of wind resistance.

08 job 1 truck/i get 10mpg . i usually drive 5-10 mph over the posted speed and i drive about 50-50 city,highway.....this is the last time i buy a ford product.used to be a huge ford fan.i would only buy ford. But now ford cant build a car that performs and is of a competitive design to say g.m. cant believe i just said that.and i think most honest ford fans will agree with me. this truck gets 10mpg/ @$3.59 . = the suck. when i signed for this truck i figured at the worst id get 15mpg boy was i fooled. when im plowing i get 6.5 mpg . also the stupid little things like wireing fault on trailer/trailer disconnected message i keep getting when i shift into reverse.the squeeking from the belt or something. im just sick of the overall bad tast this truck has left in my mouth.

You sure were fool(ed) if you thought a 9,000lb 4.88 geared, '07 emission compliant truck capable of towing 24,000lbs was going to get 15mpg. Tell me what truck that capable returning 15mpg and it has to be built in this century.

Job 3 F450 chassis cab (regular cab) 4x4, 189" WB, 4:30 gears. I just took delivery of this truck and I am still in the process of putting 12' dump bed on and fuel tank between cab and bed. I drove a 30 mile loop with out the bed on it yet (half city/highway and the other half all interstate). The dash read out was at 14.2mpg and I was very easy on it. I have driven it with the dump bed on it and the dash read out has never been above 10mpg. I will take it on a 400 mile round trip next week and report back. I hope to get 12-13mpg.

7 flat average overall, towing, winching, idling, and mudbogging with a load out to locations. Low as 5.5 towing obnoxiously and 11.2 best empty at 55-60 MPH. Brakes and ride are worth the fuel. Truck weighs 12,200 with winchbed and poles chains tools ect.

Just got back from 400 mile round trip. About half flat lands and the other half rolling hills. On the way down I averaged 9.2 MPG and I had about 8000 lbs. on the truck. On the way back home (empty) I got 10.3 MPG and also had a regen on the way home. This is with a F450 chassis cab 189" wb with a 12' Crysteel dump on it. 4.30 gears, auto tranny, truck only has 700 miles on it now. I was really wanting better MPG's. I think Ford needs to go to the wind tunnel???
