Auto Trans Temp

My AT fluid comes up to normal temp very fast when I start driving. Much faster then the engine coolant temp. AT is usually at normal temp in three to five miles of driving even with the outside temp at start up in the 40s. Can anyone tell me if the auto trans fluid temp is thermostatically controlled? Also where in the trans lube system is the temp taken? Thanks in advance for any info.

Not a true gauge. It is on a timer. It comes up no matter what the trans temp is. If you want to know how hot or cold your trans is you will have to get some sort of gauge system. You could plug an insight into the obdII port and get all kinds of readings.
