Basic Maintenance Should Improve Mileage / Truck is Running Great!

Good Morning! Yesterday I did some basic service to the 'ol girl. Here is the data. 18,445 miles and 532 engine hours. Changed oil & filter, drain plug & copper seal, drained f/w seperator, greased all 2 fittings, changed air filter, checked fluids. On the tank I just used, my mpg was 15.8 via hand. That is 40% town/back roads.

I changed the air filter because the guage showed 50% restriction (clear to red) and sounded like a box with marbles when shaken.

Since we are always reading about what is wrong, I thought a post with what is right would be a great start to a Friday. Enjoy your weekend!

Oh, and for those following posts, I have decided not to trade her in for a V10...I like the power too much.

It idles just like every other International, loud and clicky. I do not notice the ticking others describe. The only odd noise I have is when the clutch needs some love because it clatters. Perhaps I am not paying enough attention, but an oil change does not alter the sound of my engine.
