Binding from Rear Axle when turning?

Hey guys;

Just curious if anyone has binding from the rear axle when starting off and making a tight turn left or right (seems worse to the right). Truck is in 2WD, just had LR caliper replaced as it was seizing up and had ruined the pads and rotor (rusty orange) on the LR side.

RH side rotor and pads look OK, but I'm going to have them changed at next service, in a couple of weeks.

Thoughts?

Not sure if the truck has posi or limited-slip, if that's what I am feeling or not. 104k highway miles on it.

Ben

It sounds like the limited slip rear end doing it's thing.

It's done it since I bought the truck with 99k on it, I figured it was the caliper binding on the LR side, but after replacing the caliper, it didn't go away...

Did the PO put a locker in it? Sounds like the Detroit that's in my Jeep

If you think its your posi unit i would go and buy two little bottles of Ford limited slip additive and pour those two bottles into your rear diff. The stuff is green and smells nasty but it's the best stuff out there for a loud rear end. I've used it on all my rear ends in my cars and trucks and it works great and it only cost about 5 bucks a bottle from ford.

Change the grease with syn. and put ford friction modifier in. I bet that fixes the problem. At least if it has limited slip.

+1
The previous owner probably changed fluids and did not add the friction modifier, Common mistake

FYI, most people add TOO much of the friction modifyer, when you do use it, add just enough so as to quiet any chatter, but its a good thing that you can feel it SLIGHTLY when going around corners. Add just a bit at a time, test drive and add some more if necessary.

I'm going to change the fluid at next oil change, about 1500 miles. I'll let you know if that helps.
