Black Tailpipe

I've had a black tailpipe now since my truck had 1200 K on it. It has nearly 7000k on it so today I called the dealer and they told me it would be at least the 5th of November before they could look at it. This is one of the largest dealerships in Edmonton. Is this pretty much the norm nowadays. Should I just call them back and book the date?

Re: Black Tailpipe

It should not be black...has it done its REGEN cycle or do you turn it off before the 20 minutes are up? I would just schedule it, something is off.

Re: Black Tailpipe

I really don't notice it going into regen. I'm sure it does but I just don't pay enough attention to it. I guess my question is
Are long waits for service pretty much the norm nowadays? When I had my 02 Diesel I hardly had to take it in for anything. So ya kinda lose track.

I think with the economic "boom" here in Alberta everyone is struggling to keep staff (I'm sure you see it more in Edmonton than Calgary being closer to Fort Mac). But nonetheless I see it everywhere in Calgary. Even at the dealership where I work in Calgary our Diesel technicians are swamped and cannot keep up with demand. Sadly, I think we may just have to get used to it.

Bingo, there is probably something wrong with the dpf. Just be glad it's warranty work and you don't have to shell out $3600 for a new DPF.

Re: Black Tailpipe

No problem Mountie.

Not sure if you're happy with your current dealer, I can tell you that I'm more than impressed with mine. If you decide to jump ship, give Rodney at Team Ford a call, tell him Cory sent you.

As far as the delay, yup, that's how it is, especially with components like the DPF and rad. What I'm enjoying right now is the honesty from my dealer.

Re: Black Tailpipe

Thanks Cory. Actually I get great service. It just takes so long. And I still have the black tailpipe. But trucks running great and my OBD2 code reader says everythings in the green. Including emissions.

I just installed a 5 inch Magnaflow exhaust(DPF back) which really makes a difference when in regen mode. Much cooler.Going to Lloydminster this weekend so we'll see if it makes a difference.
