You don't have the cord. You will have to install it yourself. You can get the cord off ebay or from any local heavy truck, dodge dealer or tractor/farmstore. The cord is the same one used on the cummins, cat, detroit diesel and so on. It is the most commonly used plug. If you have a local heavy truck shop they will have it. This is what it looks like Dodge 89-09 Cummins Diesel Block Heater Cord 5.9l 6.7l:eBay Motors (item 160366180240 end time Oct-29-09 18:55:07 PDT) Get two bags of 3/8 loom from walmart and a roll of electrical tape. Put the cord in the loom and tape the entire length. Under the truck above the starter you will see the head of the heater. The plug plugs in and the collar screws down, you can do this by hand and a hand wrench. The cord should be zip tied to the bottom of the starter/battery cable. The underside of the wire to protect it from the exhaust manifold. Just zip tie it every 6inches along the way to the battery cable. Once you get to the front of the truck zip tie it to the trans cooler lines and at the front of the truck tuck it above the frame rail and out the opening for the tow hook. I put a little grease on the copper plug (to stop corrosion) contacts. Done. Plug it in and listen for a little hissing sound from behind the passenger tire. You should be golden. Most run it for 3 hrs before they leave in the morning. You can do this with an normal appliance timer from walmart. It took me less then 15min on my 6.4... If this is your daily driver get yourself a winter grill cover. The truck will run better and warm up faster with it. It will cost you about $80 online (pt# 8C3Z-19A414-A). You won't need it until mid Nov till early March. I will not put mine on until late Nov. Don't bother trying to get it from your local dealer they will try to charge you list price. Good luck
...as i think about it, it may have been an ordered option by the original owner. You can take a look and see if it is there. They usually have the plug around the passenger tow hook but it is faster to see if the orange block heater end exists. Climb under the truck and look above the starter. You will see the steel plug for the block heater sticking out of the block. If there is an orange end plugged into it then you have the cord. If not then you don't have it. Good for you. I guess the previous owner thought ahead a little.
Is the oil leak in the same location that the 6.0 was famous for? Most of these engines have that "hanging drip" on the center bottom section of the transmission bell housing.
