Cat replacement??? - Diesel Forum

I am considering coming back over to Ford but today when I was talking to the local dealer they were telling me that every 100k miles the cat will need to be replaced which is a $3500 job, is this true or a salesman that is just talking out of his a$$. Thanks for any info. Mike

The salesman sounds like he is a bit confused. I think he was trying to explain DPF maintenance to you. This is what he should have said...

DPF maintenance and longevity will vary depending on the particular operating conditions of your vehicle. Ford estimates cleaning of the DPF at approximately 120,000 mi and replacement at approximately 250,000 mi.

Cost of at time of "replacement" could be fairly costly, but I doubt it will be $3500. A new DPF lists for around $1500.
