I felt like I could chime in on this one. Not that I have the answer to your question but I too have only had one code thrown on my truck and it was the P0087. My truck is in the shop right now been there for about a week now and from what it looks like it's the HPFP Gasket that they are going to have to replace, something about the wires that run in that gasket they get crossed or short out or something like that. Which is why there telling me I received the code. Hope this helps, I'll let ya know what they actually ended up doing when I get it back with the work receipt.

To the OP: It does not get that cold where I'm at but what you're saying does make sense. Drive the vehicle and see how it does.

Big Daddy: Was your truck a crank, no start? When the HP fuel pump harness chafes on the pump it causes a BJB fuse to blow. If the harness shows no signs of chafes I end up replacing the HP fuel pump (if all other pin point tests pass).

No my truck runs fine 90% of the time it was throwing the code from time to time here is the weird part. It would throw the code initially it was the P0087 and I would get a loss of power they couldln't figure it out so they gave me the truck back and said inconclusive it will have to do it again and then hopefully it will throw more codes. (I know) So anyway I get it back a few weeks go by and check engine light comes on n loss of power take it in this time it throws same code in addition to both Low Pressure Fuel Valve code and High Pressure Fuel Valve code yes both codes at the same time threw them through a real loop. So how ever you look at it they still have my truck but initally when I droped it off they told me it looks like the gasket and it is possible that it could be the entire HPFP.

Mine threw the P0087 the other day when it gelled at ~ -15. Quit on me three times on the way to work, got to a place to get 911 after the second stop. Cleared the code with my Insight and has been fine ever since...except it's ready for a set of fuel filters.

Got the same code when my old Duramax gelled on me a couple years ago.

Alright fella's after two weeks I just got my truck back. Looks like they replaced the following items:

1 8C3Z-9A543-B PUMP ASY-FUE
1 8C3Z-9G805-B COVER- FUEL P
1 8C3Z-6N640-B GASKET
2 8C3Z-6N640-A GASKET
1 7C3Z-6L612-B GASKET
1 8C3Z-9T514-C KIT HARDWARE
-1 8C3Z-9A543-B CORE RETURN

Does anyone know why it says a minus or (-1) in front of that last item?

They guy wasen't there when I picked it up but the paragraph on my paperwork basically reads that they were still unable to re create the problem I was saying I was haveing and they called Ford for permission to do the above parts replacements and so they got approval and took care of it. I've only had it a half a day and so far no issues. I did notice the huge mess they left under the hood. I mean seriously there is fuel everywhere. I need to take it to the car wash and get it all washed off so that it dosen't do any more damage potentially or just become an issue later because I can't tell if maybe there was a leak or something because of the darn mess that it looks like now.

I'll post more after I've hooked up the 5th wheel for the first time and hopefully no hiccups

-1 is indicating that there is a core on the pump, and that the old pump has been turned in for core credit. It is subtracting the core allowance from the repair bill.
