coolent leak and warranty

So i posted a few weeks ago that my truck started leaking coolant AGAIN. well I had filled it with water when I was in texas so not to run hot untill i travelled where I could get it fixed. Well I ended up getting transfered to Illinois and when the temps dropped below freezing I had the system purged and refilled with coolent at the dealership (a $200 waste of money!!!) Well I went out this past saturday and when I left to go home there was a puddle of coolent on the ground and my resevoir was almost empty.
I dropped my truck off at the dealership and they pressure tested it and found a cracked lower radiator hose. They quoted me around $400 to replace the hose fill with 2 gallons of coolent and some sort of addative that runs $11 dollars. I am assuming that the cost is so high because of labor cost, but am aggravated because this is the fourth dealership I have gone to because of a leak in the cooling system. They better fix it right this time!!! So my question is why isnt this covered under warranty, and has anyone else with a 2008 job 1 F250 been running into this problem??? I believe the problems started at around 31k miles and has been going on since, I have 55K+ miles now.

Once you are out of warranty, I believe the replacement parts carry a 12 month / 12,000 mile warranty.

Assuming you are at 55,000 now. If you had a radiator replaced within the past year or when your mileage was 43,000 or more, then you should be covered under the parts replacement warranty. If not, then I believe you will be paying for it.

I plan to purchase an Ford ESP extended warranty to avoid this problem.... and anything else that pops up.

The cracked lower radiator hose is not covered under the 5 year/100k mile powertrain warranty, it is only covered by the 3 year/36k mile base bumper to bumper warranty. That's why you have to play. BTW, get coolant leaks handled when you spot them. Suppose you drove the truck out of coolant, overheated, and seized the engine. If the dealer found the only source of a coolant leak to the be lower radiator hose @ 55,000 miles then you would be held responsible for the repair to the engine. The lower radiator hose was the root cause of the engine failure. If it happeed under the 3 year/36k mile warranty the whole repair would be covered becaue the root cause (lower radaitor hose) is covered.
