I heard Ford is also replacing the thermostats when doing the radiators. Something about the thermostats not opening up all the way and causing an overheating/pressure situation - thus causing radiator failures.

Don't get me wrong, you may be right. Like I said, I'm no mechanic.

Lol it takes 45 minutes i promise, if it took me longer than that when i was working with a diesel tech i got yelled at for workin too slow. The service managers are always gonna over shoot it to save their arse, to us mechanics, time is money. Im not sure about the thermostats, i didnt change them when i was there they may be doing that now though.

I dropped it off in the morning and they called to tell me it was ready by 2:00pm.

I had mine replaced last week and the only parts listed on my receipt were the Radiator and 3 gallons of Antifreeze.

No transmission fluid (doesn't the radiator have a transmission cooler/warmer built into it?)

and

No thermostat.

I have the old EGR and it wasn't replaced either. I do have a nice cloud of white smoke like once every 1000 miles (not during regen) - could be the EGR or the CAC.

Mine failed three months ago. Job 1 truck with 25k miles at the time. It was replaced the next day at Hemborg Ford in Norco, CA.

My F350 Job3 was brought in May 2009 with 12,000 miles to have the radiator changed this is after I had brought it in 5 times over a year to get coolant added and finally told them that I know where to add coolant, and wanted to now know where it was going. I brought it in the next morning to have the rad changed and it took less then a day to change out (I can see it taking under an hour to replace). Back then the Ford dealer would always have a rad in stock (The three dealers I talk to did, anyway).

Just dropped the truck off at the dealer for a radiator and the SA told me there is a TSB for the radiator leakage. He also told me that they would pressure test to find the leak - it is a good thing that it was leaking when I pulled it into the service bay.

Got it back

Just picked up the truck with a new radiator. As I was leaving the dealer and there was a massive sound of air coming from somewhere. The lower turbo hose blew off..... The mechanic came out and tightened it up. He told me that the specs are for 12 inch or foot pounds (I can't remember) but anyway this time they were tightened with a cordless 3/8" impact. He said the torque recommendations from Ford are not enough.
