Does not want to go after sitting?

Okay, still new to Diesel engines. Twice I have had this happen. The truck sets for 3 or 4 days. It starts like normal, back it out to the road, but when I put it in drive it is like it does want to go. I can hear the turbo spin up (or a fan spin up), but it is like an anchor is attached. After it goes about two blocks it will start to sittle down. Normally I can almost let it idle its way out of the sub-dividson, but when it is like this you can hear it for sure. Do I need to let it warm up more when it has sat for 3 days, or what am I missing. '08 F250

Most newer diesel engines will not let you go "balls out" until the engine is up to operating temp. I think it is something in the programming. My dad's 6.0 is like this as well as the F-650 (with cat motor) I sometimes drive for work. Once either truck is warmed properly they go like normal.

This may be a case of expectations..I drive thru a tight neighborhood,,so I can't go much over 20 mph for 1st 1/2-3/4 of a mile. Then I hit a 45 mph road. My truck handles this with no problem...even after sitting for 2 weeks. I never get into the pedal very hard until I have some engine temperature anyways. You may have a problem

jayhirsch,

That is what I am thinking. I usually just let it idle thru the neighborhood at 0545 so that I don't make much noise to wake the neighbors. But, today and one other time, it was like the power was not getting to the transmission. So, a little for pedal and than watched the boost move up, but still not really moving. Normally, no additional pedal is needed. I guess I will watch it and ask when I take it in for service.

I'm just going to throw this out there. When you leave it parked for that 3 or 4 days do you have the emergency brake set? Maybe they aren't releasing completely after sitting.

I had a similiar problem with the previous 6L. It was during the winter so I thought it needed warming up but slowly it got worse and worse, however it would start fine if I left it for a few hours. Took it in and it turned out to be the injector module. This may or may not be the case for you and I know it's a PIA but you should take it into the dealer.
