I have a 2010 with 20,000 miles on. She regened every 200 miles or so til the tailpipes sooted up at 15,000. Ran like crap, smoked occasionally, and drank fuel. After 3 trips to the dealer, they changed the dpf. Highway mileage now is 16-17 running light, around 14.5 city. Regens are over 600 miles apart; last one was 824 miles. Sign me

Were any of your EGT sensors changed out as well? Since usually a cracked DPF by itself causes better regen and mileage since it is letting soot by. But if one or all of your EGT sensors were changed out with the DPF that would make complete sense.
No sensors changed; with the DPF cracked and plugged regens were often and mileage was terrible. A cracked DPF doesn't relieve much exhaust restriction since it is just a big trap anyway. Removing it would most likely improve mileage dramatically.
I found it for $139 a gallon and a gallon treats 1500 gallons of diesel...so assuming $150 per gallon of DFX delivered (you may find it cheaper this is just one place i found it), that works out to $0.10 per gallon or about $6.00 to treat you tank.....I think I figured that right...For my trial I purchased one-shot bottles that treat 30 gallons for $3.92 a piece. Time will tell if I decide to go for a full gallon...However my VERY limited trial looks promising...not trying o sell the product just sharing the info and results of my research...
Confirmed, $6.20 per 62 gallons.
62 (gallons per fill) / 1,500 (treated gallons) * 150 (dollars per gallon of diesel treatment) = $6.20 per fill

My 2010 F250 4x4 was purchased new this last June, currently has about 3700 miles on it, about half of those miles towing. I saw a "cleaning exhaust filter" regen at almost exactly 600 miles, then another around 2000, none since. Although the message only flashes on for a couple of seconds, I keep a pretty regular scan of the panel; don't think I would have missed it, but perhaps.
I try to keep the boost down; getting 16 mpg highway light, and around 11 towing.
Mine regened again. 643 miles. Thats 4 in a row at roughly 650 miles, as I had stated in the original post.
Went out of state last weekend. Averaged 16mpg on the highway, cruising 65-70mph.
Sooted tailpipes and all. Smokes alot. I beilieve the DPF is cracked for sure, but Im very undecided as to whether that helps or hurts me.
just completed a pull (8K 5th wheel) of about 250 miles with my 2010 CC 2WD. About 150 was interstates and 100 was country highways with a decent amount of top lights and I seemed to get everyone red. Running Opti-lube and DFX in the tank, the truck got 11.3 MPG. 400 mile since last regen...300 of that towing... Another 300 mile pull later in the week. That one will be mostly interstates. I am hoping for 12MPG on that.
In all of these posts, nowhere did I see anyone loaded to or close to GVW and pulling a 6% grade. Try it! I can tell you what will happen. In my personal
F450 weighing in at a little over 27K and pulling a long 6% grade with outside temps around 85 deg. and at 6K elevation, shortly after entering the grade, my truck went into regen. The power dropped off considerably because boost was decreased (by the PCM) to generate heat to burn out the particulate filter. Naturally I increased throttle pressure to try to maintain 55 mph. With the reduced power, it would not maintain. After a short while, and with the fan on full tilt (sounded like a helicopter), the truck goes into limp mode because of excessive heat measured on a combination of sensors and I am down to 15 mph and my mileage indicator showing 2 mpg. This was very embarrassing and convinced me that this truck in stock form was an absolute piece of crap. This truck would not still be in my driveway if it were still stock. After doing a dpf delete, juice/attiude for gauges and turbo cool down timer, SCT 9625OR with RCD's 450 tune, and an AFE OEM replacement air filter, this truck is a totally different animal that is a pleasure to drive. Now I can go up that same long 6% grade at the desired 58 mph, and my cooling fan will come on and then turn off twice.
If all a person needs out of these trucks is to take the wife and dog on a Sunday drive, and an occasional trip to the grocery store, they may be fine stock, but if you need to pull or haul heavy in mountainous terrain they don't work. And, pitty the next poor fella that buys this partially melted down piece of crap after you trade it in when the warranty has ran out.

Well let me dispute the last post some. I have pull over 23K gross with mine. And yes I did 6-12% grades in 101F outside temps. One of the grades here in Western MD heading out to Ohio is about 2 miles long as well. I maintained 55. If the truck is running right even during a regen you should not notice a loss of power or boost. I do not.

I pull Vail Pass. Loveland Pass, or Berthoud Pass in CO at least once a week. I usually have a combined weight of 18-20k and never have a problem maintaining 55-60mph myself.
