I believe it. Is the plug aluminum by any chance? I was going to guess the oil pan threads might be cracked, but i think we have steel pans and not aluminum. The same thing happened to my 1991 T-bird. A Jiffy lube type place was changing the oil and I saw the worker cranking on the bolt like he was assembling steel I beams. I was always taught to get it snug then add a little oomph, not too much. Well later that day fresh oil was running down the driveway and took it back. The oil pans threads had a crack and oozing oil. They blamed it on me hitting something in the road and denied any wrong doing. Needless to say, the pan was aluminum and didn't take kindly to overkill.
Hope your problem is now fixed.
