Please confine discussion of topics in this forum to those items that are specific to the 6.4L Power Stroke engine.
I drove a 6.4 the other day. Did my not real accurate acceleration test. Floor it and count until it sets you back. Well a 6.0 is usually 3 seconds (1 thousand 1, 1 thousand 2, 1 thousand 3) and you know the 6.4 was the same. Now from about 20 mph and nailing it the 6.4 seemed snappier. We did a rolling drag race against our CC DRW 6.0 with our tuner and the 6.0 walked all over the 6.4. Interior was sweet and the seats were very comfy. This was a F250 FX4. Left a little to be desired in the power dept after driving a chipped 6.0 especially considering that we were comparing a CC LB DRW to a CC SB SRW. Was definitely quieter and only sounded like a 6.0 on hard accel.

How many miles were on the 6.4 odometer? How many on your truck? I know that once I reached a certain mile driven, my 6.0 seemed to come alive, much stronger power. Was this truck at a dealer offered for sale. I have to ensure the 6.4 truck I buy has not been "test driven" by a "researcher".

Maybe everyone can get their brand new 6.4's chipped immediately so they can get that desired power. When you guys gonna have a big bad chip for the 6.4?
Tadd, could you compare it to a stock 6.0? Because it doesn't seem fair one of your tuned 6.0's versus a stock 6.4, LOL. Because I can walk all over stock 6.0's and some tuned 6.0's!

He could not do that because he could not mention the chip, that's his business, chips. He wants everyone to know that the 6.4 is not as powerful as a chipped 6.0 so that everyone will want to chip their 6.4 to "keep up". That's why I am asking him when the 6.4 chips can be expected. If they already have their hands on the engine, it should take them no time at all to have them ready.
My opinion is stock vs stock they will be quite similar. The 25 or so extra hp will be used up to push exhaust gases through the particulate filter (I read about that power loss in some diesel magazine). The only difference may be that off-the-line lag of the stock 6.0 may be improved upon by the twin turbo arrangement. Of course the newer truck will be quieter and more comfy - thats how it always is!!
Not so -- the power ratings are performed with all emissions / exhaust etc. hooked up. You should appreciate the difference. Stock vs stock, there is no reason at all to believe that the 6.4 will not outperform the 6.0
I would bet that a properly tuned 6.0L will eat up a 6.4L, unless the 6.4L owner decides to take some chances. Even then, it may not be possible.
My 160HP Quad powered 6.0L would absolutely RIP!
AFE intake, turbo back duals..
That thing was a beast..
So, who dares to take on and challenge the new "big brother" box in the 6.4L????
Not me....
I can see it now. Ford has instructed all field service to deny, deny, deny if ANY system on the truck has been compromised..
You cut the finned tail pipe off, and forget Ford's warranty. They're too tired and broke to be nice..

Oh George, just another "old head" rant, we don't know what we are talking about. All you got to do is take it off and "restore" the factory parameters, they will never find out. It's all so slick. They can't possibly have the technology to find out these things. Plus take comfort that the "tuners" spend hundreds of thousands of dollars making sure that a "tuned" engine meets all EPA regulations. We are just old school dudes that can't figure all of this out. All you got to do is find a "mod friendly" dealer and hell, they will do anything for you under warranty. Why are you worried. Lay down the 40 plus grand, go directly home, install a tuner and rip the living hell out of it. If the tranny pops or something blows, just simply remove the tuner, reinstall the factory program and tell the dealer you were taking your kids to school and driving 15 miles per hour and "something broke". A quick smile from the friendly service advisor who tells you, no problem, we have your new engine and tranny ordered sir, no charge.........

Maybe before Ford took a Nestea right into the porcelin bowl!
Now, if you cut the tail pipe off, forget about getting your cigarette lighter fixed under warranty.
