Engine Noise like a whine
Got a load of diesel last week and have had an increasingly loud whine at low speed. Wonder if I got bad diesel or water. Wondered if anyone has any tips for whether this is another problem that is coincidental to getting the fuel.
News! Had my car mechanic take a look while I was talking to Ford dealerships 30 miles away. Got a surprised call from my mechanic who said he'd fixed the problem. Said that the power steering connection was loose at the nut where it goes into the firewall, and that enough air had gotten into the line that it vibrated throughout the lines causing the noise. Apparently, the power steering and power brakes are interrelated so when he touched the brake pedal he knew. Not a fuel problem, so he even gave me a no charge as a Christmas present. Truly a nice surprise. Anyway, thought I'd share it for the wisdom's sake.
