ESOF on 2008 F450 - Diesel Forum

Would any of you know if ESOF on the F450 is different in any way from the F250/350. Also, have their been any upgrades incorporated in recent years that improve operation/reliability of this system. I appreciate any technical info any of you have.

Well Gentleman,

Since no one was able to provide any information, I visited my dealer and had a long talk with the commerial truck manager. I suggested he might want to search the internet for opinions about ESOF. By the way, my truck is scheduled to arrive at the dealer on April 2nd (with ESOF). Well we discussed the situation and I finally told them that I wouldn't take delivery. They have kindly agreed to reordered the truck with a manual shifter. Also decided to add the PTO based on all the discussion you folks provided. Looks like I won't be seeing my truck for a while!! but I couldn't go through with the other deal. I know you understand.

I ordered my 2008 F-450 Lariet without the ESOF option. Going manual this time. I know, that stick sticking up out of the floor of a "girly boy" truck will look out of place, but I just like having complete control of the 4wd system. Only once did my truck's ESOF let me down but it did it in a big way. Nothing is worse than having to drive 60 miles at 30mph towing a big boat/trailer when the truck is stuck in 4wd. May be a rarity, may hurt my resale, I don't give a hoot.
