Re: Exhaust Tip

That dual thing is suppose to help something during the Regen process.
all I can figure by looking at it, is that helps dissipate the heat and those little cut outs allow a bit more air flow into the tip to help cool it off.
This, I figure, is so that the exposed tip temperatures stay down a bit lower, to help keep you from burning the sheet out of your leg.

Other than that, I really dont see much point to the double tip thing.

IMO, cut it off, put whatever you want on there. its your truck. I really cant imagine something that minor haveing any ill effects for your truck.

1. Immediate denial of warranty claims by Ford.
2. Violation of Federal law.
3. Possible malfunction of DPF and fire hazard.
4. Possible engine malfunction.

I think there are still new 07s to be had.

Re: Exhaust Tip

Just sit back and relax, aftermarket part guys will not lose this much market potential. IMO They will have and improved design chrome plated with "new and improved turbine holes" available in no time. You cannot just remove the tips but they said nothing about enhancing them. To me, I really don't give a #(@$. I didn't buy the truck for the exhaust tips, they serve their purpose.

If you trust some company to make an engineered part, at least get dual pipes that go back to the resonator so it looks like a dual exhaust, JMHO.

Personally I wouldn't touch a thing.

Some people come here for information and don't get the jovial atmosphere, sometimes I do (get the humor).

Ohhk, 1 & 2 I can see being possible,
but 3 & 4?? from the exhaust TIP???

if this stuff is really that sensitive, I am not sure I ever want to take this truck off road. Sheet, I have been known to crush exhaust pipes, bent one gas tank, and even sheer'd off a U-bolt off my rear leaf spring one time.
I can only imagine where I will get stranded if I put a ding in an exhaust pipe on this super sensitive truck.

Re: Exhaust Tip

So spend 50,000 of your hard earned dollars on a truck that you cannot even change the exhaust on...

I think I'll buy mine with a v10 and supercharge it.

Kev, you need some tires?

Re: Exhaust Tip

I saw that schematic the other day and wondered what they ment by "cooling diffuser must be utilized"?

and how many aftermarket systems will utilize the factory one vs. including their own

they'll probably use their own diffuser. ford's tip isn't critical, just so long as a diffuser is used that achieves similar results. i'm speculating....

Re: Exhaust Tip

Quoting from the North Texas provided document:

"The resonator/tailpipe assembly has a functional twin tipped diffuser which should not be modified."

To me, it is part of the emission system, thus Federal law applies. Anyways, it clearly marked in the diagram what can be modified.

Personally, I don't care what you do. I listed possible consquences that I read about here and elsewhere.

Remember reading that fuel is poured into the DPF to regen, what happens to that process if the tip has been removed?

I've seen catalytic convertors on fire and hot enough to melt carpeting in the cab.

On edit: Why would the engine malfunction? Sensors on the exhaust sytem would send unusual readings to the the PCM/ECM?

The Tip is NOT certified componet, meaning Federal Laws don't protect it.

Now, Warrenty is another question
