f-350 axles

i was wondering if anyone with a 350 dually could look at their axles and see if the axle tubes are plug welded into the diff housing. mine aren't which kinda worries me since i've never seen an axle that wasn't. the holes are there just no welds. its both axles. thanks. chris..

Re: f-350 axles

All 4 holes? or just two (one per side)

My 00 superduty had just two welds (out of the 4 possible weld holes). Never looked at my other trucks. Current truck has a different rear axle.

I'm not too mechanically savy. I just climbed under my 2008 F350 DRW and could not see what you are describing. Do you have a picture of what to look for?

Re: f-350 axles

all four holes. both holes on both axles. sorry i dont have a pic. it's the two holes on the diff housing. they're centerline of the axles. normally the tubes are pressed in. then those holes are filled with a weld to keep the axle tube from spinning in the housing. i'll try to get a pic up when it stops raining. oh yea the truck is a '08 350 4x4.
