F-450 Tire noise with traction tires

Anyone with 4WD and the optional traction tires noticing a lot of traction tire noise on the highway? I bought my truck out of a dealer inventory and it already had them.

I have just got a new company truck which is a 2008 f-450 4X4 with those same tires, and they do hum on paved roads but it isnt real loud to me with the windows down.

Re: F-450 Tire noise with traction tires

A little hum, but I'm used to tires with a little more tread making more noise.

Re: F-450 Tire noise with traction tires

I have the traction tires and I'm hearing tire noise. Seems to be less now than when new. I guess it's just the nature of the tire because the tread doesn't seem all that agressive.

Re: F-450 Tire noise with traction tires

Pretty quiet to me, though I came from a '04 6.0PSD so this I am still getting use to it being so quiet. When out at the Teton factory recently, there were two other new F-450s there picking up new fivers. Mine was the only one with the Off Road package but all three trucks had the same Continental tires on them. Did I get charged extra for the same tires as the non-Off Road package equipped 450's?

Re: F-450 Tire noise with traction tires

The maximum traction tires are an option. Only come on the rear even with the off-road package. They basically look the same as the fronts except that they have an open tread on the edges while the fronts are a more closed tread. This engine and drivetrain in my truck is so quiet that it's easy to hear tire noise.

Re: F-450 Tire noise with traction tires

Too many years on the flightdeck for me to hear those tires, thankfully the Audiophile sounds so good cranked up. Wish list: BFGoodrich All-Terrains in load range "G" in 19.5. I am a bit worried how this truck will handle snow, the F-250 with Rugged Trails did well driving to the ski areas, those Continentals look like they will load up quickly and with duals on the rear might not be so warm and fuzzy driving.

Re: F-450 Tire noise with traction tires

I tend to agree with you on that idea about the continentals. I am afraid i will need chains for plowing this winter with the conti's
