Thumbs up F450 gave an old Ford 8x8 a ride

I sold and delivered my 1969 Ford 8x8 amphibious cargo truck with my young wipper-snapper '08 F450. The 6.4 pulled like a champ and still returned 6.5 mpg, pulling a truck with the aerodynamics of a barn. I can't even relate how much I like this truck, trailer ain't bad either, but the truck is awesome!

Thanks guys, no airbags I try for 4000-5000 of weight on the gooseneck so no airbags needed. The "white" exhaust was steam, I just started the truck and it was cool outside.

I was sorry to see the old Ford 8x8 go but I had to make room since I bought an 8x8 made by Oshkosh.

Oh boy did I get a new toy :

It won't be riding on my trailer, it is 35' long and weighs 39,000 lb. empty, it would kill my 450 for sure.

I've driven those trucks by Oshkosh. they were running 400hp detriots back around 1988. Last time I drove one. 2200 max RPM but it would do 80...rides pretty good too.

Are you on Steelsoldiers? That thing is incredible.I had heard there were only 3 HEMTTs in civilian hands... What was the make on that amphibious 8x8? I've never seen one like that before. Looking at your avatar, I'm guessing that's not the only MV you have. What else is in the collection?

Yes, I'm on Steel Soldiers and I understand there are less than 10 in civilian hands. Yes, it does have a 450 hp Detroit but they won't go 80 mph unless you push one out of an airplane. Mine has been upgraded with a custom reworked 5 speed Allison as opposed to the 4 speed units they came with, FUN toy!

The older 8x8 was made by Ford for the Pershing I missile system.

And yes we have other stuff, mostly armored vehicles.

The one I had in Germany would run right along. I think that was because it was always on the floor. I ran it up and down the Autoban wide open.
