First fill up & second regen

Dealer had the tank reading full when I picked the truck up. Today, at 504 miles, I filled up and it took 31 gal. Guys, this equals 16.25 according to my calculator. This was hand packed and hand calculated. This was approx 50% highway driving. This seems really good to me. My 03, 6.0 did no better than this. I only got it over 70 a couple of times, it was mostly 60 - 70. I did use tow/haul around town to get some compression downshifts. Also had my second regen. This one occured at the same place, at the mailbox. This time I was just stopping and had set the parking brake. I touched the brake and it stopped. No big deal but it does stink when it's regenning.

Re: First fill up & second regen

Does sound good. In last cruise on highway - my 05 6.0 got 18.2 (hand) running 81 on interestate for 300+ miles empty.

Have 340 miles on the 6.4 and Will fill up in next couple of days.

Re: First fill up & second regen

I have 1250 miles on mine so far. I have used my infra red thermometer to check the exhaust temperature during the regen cycle, the one time it was doing it in my drive way. I saw temps around 430 degrees F. But I did not notice any smell at all it was very hot to stand within ~3' of the exhaust pipes while this was going on.

Re: First fill up & second regen

Just did my first full fill so I can hand calculate my mileage. According to the on-board gauge...terrible...so I hope it is inaccurate! Coming home into a 30-40 mph headwind yesterday..I had the cruise set at 80 mph. Truck never complained..but I could watch the average mpg drop ( I had just zero'd it out a few miles back ). I guess that is no surprise..the guage just puts out there to view ( and think about ). Plenty of power....I backed out of it at 95.. unless it has a limiter , it felt like it was heading for 110 or so.
