First long pull with the 08

Well just got back from a round trip run from VA to MA

550 miles each way, I have a 26 foot enclosed Mirage tag car hauler with a w/d hitch. Ran the speed limit on Highway 13 (lots of stopping), Rte 1 (55 mph), then interstate 95 and 91.

On the way back I went I91, to I84, Tappanzee Bridge, the Garden State Pkwy, to I95, to Rte 1, to 13 (MUCH MUCH MUCH better run, and 1/3 of the tolls and roads were in better shape)

Empty hand calculated was 10.5 unloaded on the way up, and magically, 10.4 on the way back loaded LOL

Ironically, the trailer was probably 3500 lbs max on the way up, it was empty other than 2 spare tires, a small air compressor and small generator.

On the way back I had my 71 4x4 Ford pickup in the back, and a spare rear axle for the truck, so I estimate total trailer weight at 9000 lbs. Hardly a change in mileage at all and it pulled real well

One thing I did notice that I didnt when I used to pull this with the 02, is that the trailer pushes air hard to the point you can see the front panels flexing.

I havent got my cab-high cap back on the truck yet, which I ran on the 02, so I am thinking it directs the air higher up on the front of the trailer.

The chipped 02 used to get 12 mpg, if I am right, this one should be comparable, or within 1 mpg.

I will say that this 6.4 pulls great, I was very impressed. I would say on the open road my 2002 with all the goodies seemed to have a slight power edge, hard to tell, however starting and stopping, the new tranny and 6.4 sure accelerated easy. I was very happy overall

One question though, with approx 1500 miles on the truck, I dont know if I have experienced a regen, how do you know?

Also, I have two comments .....

1 - I would like to shoot the guy that made the shifter indicator light RED, every so often it catches my eye and I think I have something bad happening LOL

2 - The George Washing Bridge is out of control, construction down to one lane, and if you tow you need to take the upper level, stay away at all costs

I agree. I'm surprised that nobody's hacked out a fix for this yet.

Should've let me know and dropped by for a test drive Oh yea, I could've told you not to take the GWB on the weekend.

Your return route was on the money. When you came off the Tappan Zee, you should've went across 287/87 to 78 south to 95. 78 has no tolls, less winding, wider and it's an Interstate hwy.

Glad you like the truck. Go to my pictures and look in the Marauder album, bridge look familiar
