most of it is old & some of it is new. i just hope in the future Ford & Cummins get together. Ford needs to wise up. if i was'nt so near to retiring from Ford i'd simply say & i quote, " my future is in there hands".

I would much rather see them in bed with Cat.

Cat with common rail. I would hate to see Ford go back to HEUI which Cat uses. They may make some engines with common rail but my understanding is the majority if not all are HEUI.

Since Ford seems to know so much about maintaining good relations with its' suppliers...why don't they just design & develop thier own diesel engine?

I believe most of CAT's 2007 compliant engines are common rail.

Back on topic. If the 6.4 is a good motor, I think Ford and Navistar will stay together awhile longer.

Ford can not maintain a good relationship with anyone until pushed to the wall. Ever wonder why we all called them "Stealer". Maybe they need to look at John Deere and how they operate business.

Here is a schedule update on the Ford - Navistar Status Conference Report.

There are some numbers in this report that I hadn't seen before like the amount of payments Ford had withheld from Navistar's shipments of the 6.4L.

You've never done business with a JD manufacturing plant have You? I have good friends who deal with some of their plants supplying parts & materials. They (jd) place an order one day for delivery in two weeks. Call the next day and increase the order by 1000% but push delivery out a month. Next day call back and cut the order to half of the original quantity but need it NOW. And still expect or demand the same price.

Re: Ford & Navistar to compromise? interesting!

Ford is terrible about beating the profit out of their suppliers. Why do you think there are such quality issues with the 6.0? I shouldn't say just Ford, the whole auto industry is that way. I call on a few 1st tier auto suppliers, I hate going there, everyone is worked to death and going no where, very difficult to do business with.
