I just bought an F450 Super Duty and at the time of the signoff, I was offered a number of additional things to buy, like extended warranty, Lojack, etc. One of the things offered was a pre-paid Maintenance plan. I have never owned a Diesel before and I will be using my F450 with a truck camper doing extensive traveling. So this seemed to make sense to me. It cost about $3200.00, and covered all maintance and wear out items for 6 years.
I took it but was wondering what everyone else thinks about this plan. Is it worth it? I was told that an oil change at a ford dealership would be $120. I was also told that the cost at the various major service interval was like $550.
I have that plan as well and have figured that the oil changes alone will almost pay for the plan. Also with the price of oil going up it has given you a little bit of a savings as i can be pretty sure that an oil change will go up. I do not mind doing my own work but with 2 young girls and a wife I don't have the time right now. I do the oil changes and pm's on the commuter car. It also offers piece of mind in that you don't need to look for the extra cash every 3 months for some service or another. JMO.

I looked at it when I bought my 07. It appears to me money well spent if you intend to have a dealer do all of your work as I did. If you can front the money do it, but also make very certain that they do every job listed in your service contract per warranty book 100%.
All of the scheduled maitenance is at miles or months. So I think even if you are not putting on the miles, the time element is still there. At least that the way I see it.
Thats the way I seen it to. I'm thinking since it's not a daily driver I'm taking the chance and not taking it. My last truck is an 05 with under 18000 miles on it. This past year was the most miles I put on it. Buddy has a diesel and when his maintenance program is up he's not renewing it. They want like 4200 bucks for another three years.
Not that this is any help now, but the cost of the maint plan is negotiable (just in case others are considering it). I originally purchased it but found out a buddy of mine got the same plan for nearly $600 less and an extra year longer than I got (I did the shorter plan not the 72 month). This kind of irked me although it was my own fault - I was sold on the fact my dealer was giving me a "deal". So I canceled it. My stupidity I guess. But overall it was going to cost me nearly the same through the plan or paying as I go.
Still looking for more feedback here. Hasn't anyone else face this issue at purchase of a Super Duty. What did you do??
I got the Premium Maintenance Plan 72month/100k for about $1850. Includes oil changes at 10,000 plus tire rotation and a multi-point inspection each visit. Additionally, it covers all service intervals and normal wear items if applicable; Shocks, clutch, belts and hoses, brakes, wipers.
If you do the math, it is worth the money. Especially since costs are rising so quickly.
Hope this helps.

I've had my 08 350 DRW for 1 week. I took the maintenance plan and extended warrenty.
my 06 350 SRW work great for 2 years then feb of 08 it started smoking and eating egr valves, dealer had it for 3 weeks could'nt find any problems then it died. Dealer traded me for the new truck and apologized for the 6.0 problems. Now ford can do all maintenance.
GOOD LUCK
I skipped on the maintenance plan though if I still own the truck and approach the expiration of the engine/powertrain warranty I may purchase that. All of these services are price negotiable. Shop for best price, don't roll the cost into the purchase price. Paying interest on the maintenance plan cost is pound foolish, than again if you can piggyback it onto the 60month 0% loan not bad. IMHO, $3200 is far too much for the scheduled maintenance for these trucks, I doubt I have ever neared that cost in the last 10 years maintaining four vehicles, including two PSDs. Oil changes on my 6.4 cost me $40.00 and takes me 20 minutes to do.

Bought it with my 2005 and it is well worth it. When you add up the cost of the oil changes, transmission, radiator service and all you save a ton of money unless you overpay or don't put enough miles on your truck. JMHO
