I am in the proces of getting another motor replaced. Thank god for extended warrenty. I now have 169k on my truck and I wish I had confidence in fords new diesel, but I don't. I think my next truck will be another brand.

Wait to see how this 6.7L is. I have hope this engine will be better than the 6.0 Leakers and 6.4 cab lifters since it is no longer an Internatinal engine.
Not to rub it in, but I sure am glad I got the V10 gasser, Ford knows how to make a good ol' big gasser. Of course I don't drive as much as you, but it sounds like we are getting similiar mpg.
For the numbers of 6.4 SD's sold, these numbers aren't that high. People come to the forums to read them (like me) or to complain...Take a look at some of the Dodge sites, or the 1/2 ton sites (all makes and models)

Still bad enough to cause a law suite between Ford and Intrashional (I think that lawsuite included the 6.4, I know it included the 6.0). Besides I don't have a full shop to lift the cab of my truck up when I need to do stuff to it after the warranty is out.
Dodges are joke of a truck IMO. It's a shame to because they have some the best engines, just the truck falls apart on them. They also look the best IMO, I think Ford look the worst, but at least it works...
And yeah, 1/2 tons will get more, there are more of them. More 1/2 tons means more people to post and more truck to go break down. It would be interesting to look at the % of truck produced to the number of people on active board though.

Any time there is a systemic failure of a part or parts from a manufacturer (especially for an engine) litigation is introduced. they also develop a work-around to the problem if they can. The 09's have half the problems of the 08's, and the 10's have even less. It was too many in Ford's eyes, so they sued.
I know a lot of people who own F250's and I'm the only one on the board..
Talked to Ford Motor Company today. They could care less about customers!! My 2008 f350 is a piece of trash. I hate it!! Worst truck I ever owned. Replaced radiator, problem with a/c control, shorted wiring harness cab was pulled, sensor replaced in particulate filter, continuous diesel smell in cab since harness replacement. Had it in the dealership and they could not find anything wrong with it until soot started pouring out of turbo into firewall. Waited 4 weeks to get it into dealership because they can't get parts from navistar and so many trucks are broken. Turbo is whining or whistling. Also occasional rough running like a miss at traffic lights, airbag light coming on. I emailed ford, I called ford, I finally got a letter and called a guy. Absolutely no help. the first person i talked to said ford might buy it back, but that is a lie. They won't do it unless it has less than 20 k miles. Mine has 69 now..been in the shop well over 40 days and will probably be back in for 2 weeks. The dealer took it today. The guy at Ford Motor company was trying to lead me on and tell me they needed to start a file on it. UH>>.excuse me..the dealer already has a file on it and they don't want to see me anymore...i don't want to see them either..but it is not the DEALER's Fault is is Ford MOtor Company for putting these pieces of trash on the street. I am going to file under the lemon law....if any of you guys are interested in class action suits ..sign me up...email me!! These trucks can never really be fixed..they have a fatal design flaw with this particulate filter epa trash!! The key to a class action suit is this design flaw. Whe i first started driving the truck I got about 15 mpg..i asked does it bet better??..oh yeah sure a diesel is not broken in til 100,000 miles...BS!!! I am down to under 10mpg. I own diesel trucks and heavy equipment..when a turbo starts whistling like this..it is fixing to crater!!! email me..i got banned from the powerstokes forum for telling the truth..this is the truth and it is a nightmare. Thanks for you time.
Sorry to hear your horrible experience. I have a 2010 F250 and I am certainly learning this thing is hobbled by the EPA smog equipment. Poor, and I do mean poor mileage. Wish I had bought the 2011 gas truck, but stuck for at least two years with this unit. Had an experience like yours with my daughters VW Golf. Three times it was in for a turbo problem. After the last time I ask VW to extend the warranty by 15,000 miles. Seemed reasonable. They laughed and told me to sue them. I ask them to look at my records and see how many VW products I had bought and currently owned. They did not care. The dealer bought the car back for almost everything I paid for it. Told me they would deal with VW. Sold every VW I had the next weekend. I won't make and I won't brake em but I will never own one again. Will buy from the dealers other stores no doubt. Hope you can find some resolution to your problem. Life is to short and vehicles to expensive for this kind of bunk.
Thanks mango..yep the ford guy basically told me to go ahead and file. They don't care about customers. I have a 2005 f150 that has been fine. When i bought the 2008 f350 I also bought a mustang for my wife and it has been fine. Unfortunately the f350 has been the worse vehicle I have ever owned in my life!!! I actually think the 2011 diesel is a good product, but I probably will not buy it do to the ford guy's attitude.
Tryin to decide between dodge and gm. The engine builders tell me they have never seen the inside of a duramax..it is that good!! But the front end on a 4x4 is terrible and the doors fall off..so i don't know.
The particulate filter forced by the epa is a terminal design flaw in this engine. Why do you think ford sued navistar?? Because the 6.0 and 6.4 are trash..funny Navistar builds a solid 6 cylinder..just buy one before they put the particulate filter on it. I did buy a 2005 4300 with the six cylinder it is fine. Thanks again and great to have any kind of input.
When the turbo starts to whistle it's going to tank? What do you mean whistle exactly? I mean when I was pulling my toyhauler up hill 8% grade it started to whistle but when I looked it up in the manual it said that it would make a louder noise like that when working a little harder than normal. You must be saying that if it whistles like when your just driving it down the road under normal conditions right?
Big daddy..yeah..I am talking about a whistle when it idles and it keeps getting louder. My experience with turbos..ie on a cat d7 when it begins whistling at idle it is getting bad. When a turbo starts to crater the engine will produce black smoke, but the particulate filter may hide this for awhile.
