You guys are hard to please! Here is the definition of dual:
1 of grammatical number : denoting reference to two
2 a : consisting of two parts or elements or having two like parts
I think the word fits.

Best reply yet exactly what it should say. But some might not know what this means so in lamens words dual hits a bigger audience especially maybe a girl or some Male who does not know engines to save his life and buys a FORD for the name.
Besides the marketing reps for FORD I am sure went over this a few times and probably get paid more then most of us it should be sequential but I can see there point to say dual.

Perhaps "dual sequential turbos" is the most precise phrase? (Sequential could be 2, 3, any number, right?) But I could see where they'd edit it down to the more familiar word, for a 15 second commercial...

The term "two stage" was lifted directly from the 08 workshop manual as well as the web based introductory training course for the 6.4....
If we are filling out a warranty claim, I find it expeditious to call something by the name Ford gives it in the repair manual (making any appeal process easier).
The system isn't twin since the turbos work in series. The system isn't sequential since all of the air fed to the high pressure turbo comes through the low pressure turbo all of the time....
In the end, I don't think it matters what we call it - it is a readl departure from what we've had in the past.... right from the special lifting fixture (I'm told that the turbo assembly is over 100 pounds) to the special service tools....
