6.4L Power Stroke Engine and Drivetrain Discussion of the 6.4L Power Stroke diesel engine and drivetrain in the 2008 Super-Duty trucks. No gas engine discussion allowed except on transmissions and drivetrain that pertain to all models. Please confine discussion of topics in this forum to those items that are specific to the 6.4L Power Stroke engine.

Something I haven't seen mentioned here is the fact that most of these trucks weigh around 8000#. to get 15 M.P.G. out of a 4X4 that weighs that much, I think is pretty good. The right foot is probably the biggest variable. Suggestions, keep stock tires, keep them at MAX. pressure, don't carry around unnecessary junk.

Weight does make a difference. My reg cab 4x4 with 6 speed gets 17 mpg all day long mixed driving. All highway is usually around 19-20 at 70-75 mph. Its also on the lighter end of the superduty spectrum. A crew cab dually will weigh alot more and suffer in mileage.
