Fuel Separator Drain Location

Hi. I'm trying to find the location of the fuel separator that I need to drain each month (2008 F350 SRW CC 4x2). The manual says its under the drivers floorboard on inside of frame rail near transmission. I crawled under the edge of the truck and couldn't see it. Then again, being a big boy (OK, wide!) I couldn't fit my entire body under the truck/cab step to check, just from my head to shoulders.

Where exactly along the length of the truck is this thing (under driver door, under rear passenger door of crew cab?) Will I need to fit my entire body under the truck or jack the truck up while draining it?

BTW - right now, I only put 500 miles/month on the truck until I get my 5th wheel next Spring (have beater car). Do I still need to drain it every month, or can I wait until the dashboard indicator comes on?

Thanks!
Gary

Yes you do have to get your body under the truck. It is under the front door midway on the truck. In the F-450 for sure. There is a cannister and a little yellow stub spout on the bottom of it,the lever is on the side of it. Open the lever and it will drain, then just close the lever.

Mine was tight trying to open. Don't be afraid to pull hard on lever. The seperator is square and above the frame. Follow the fuel line.

Re: Fuel Separator Drain Location

Thanks so far for the replies. I think the problem is 3-fold:

1) I have a 4x2, and so there isn't enough space for me to crawl entirely under the cab steps
2) I am around 70 lbs overweight, which makes it even harder to fit under the cab steps!!!
3) I don't know what I'm doing!!!

Besides that, all is OK!!! Seriously, I think I'll take it into the dealer and get them to show me. I now have an idea where to look, but cannot fit well into that area anyway. Do most of you use a floor jack? Do you enter from the side? I imagine the fact that most of you have 4x4 makes it easier since you have more clearance. I could fit if it wasn't for those pesky cab steps.

Thanks!
Gary

Re: Fuel Separator Drain Location

I have 4-wheel drive and it is tight for me, I'm not small either. However good luck with your truck.
