Any news on who will be building the post-6.4L engine in 2012 when the existing contract runs out? I wonder how expensive invoking an escape clause would be for either company. Somehow I don't think Ford will continue with Navistar/International given the lawsuits flying back and forth. Don't even tougher emissions regulations appear in 2010 too? Should be an interesting couple of years...

Understand the 4.4L diesel is slated for the F-150 not the Super Duties. It's a scaled up engine from that which is used in the Range Rover so the PU should go like stink!!! Ford started building diesels in England in the 1950's. It's possible that Ford will switch to Cummins for the Super Duties as i understand they hold a big chunk of Cummins stock.

Ford has 3 all new lion series diesel engines, the 4.4 for the F-150, expedition and base motor in the superdutys. The smaller will be in a few in a smaller car, possibly fusion or fucus and the ranger or it's replacement. Which leaves the larger for the superdutys optional diesel. Plans are changed quite often, but thats what is being worked on right now. The diesel that ford spent all the money to develop with caterpilliar is not looking like it'll ever make it into a superduty. Most likley the rights will be sold to another manufacture so they can use it....probably toyota.

It's AMAZING how many people still believe that Ford owns part or all of Cummins. IT IS NOT TRUE! Ford does not own any part of Cummins. You'll never see a Cummins engine in a truck smaller than the F650.

Why not Mark? Contract issues?

Why would Toyota buy this when they have their own Hino (a subsidiary of Toyota) diesels operating worldwide. They do have consumer/pro-sumer use vehicles in many other countries, just not currently in the U.S., but this will change with MY 2010 Tundras.
