I liked the part where they say they have tested their competition and they have a pile of their parts to prove it.

There's more hype in that piece than in Ford's Page Ranking prior to the 6.0's
release four years ago. And we all know what happened after the 6.0
hit the streets... And now Ford is trying to get a little more Page Ranking by
suing International over the 6.4's cost and denied warranty claims on
the 6.0's. And the 6.4-L hasn't even hit the dealer showrooms yet!
The next few months will be very interesting...
One would hope... But whenever I run across a 6.0 owner, typically at a
fuel station, I ask them how they like their 6.0.... Typically they
wanna get rid of it. The one guy that I remember that didn't wanna get
rid of it yet just drove it off the lot a few weeks earlier and was
more/less clueless about 6.0 problems.... The last 6.0 owner I talked
to at a fuel station said he had just gotten his back from the dealer
for the coolant puking problems. It had been in twice for that problem
and once for something else. He said if it goes back again he was gonna
lemmon law it...

I think there are more good dependable 6.0's out there than some may think.
I personally know a lot of 6.0l owners and there is only one that I know of the has caused some problems.
I did not think they had any problems with the IDI motors so those words are

There probably are, but no one can deny the 500 million in warranty repairs and more TSB's than you can count. You can look at the number of folks who have posted problems in the 6.0 forum two ways. 1. Only folks with problems are posting, therefore it just looks worse. Or 2. If you take the number of folks who post problems here and some how quantify that out to all purchasers who own them, who have never posted anywhere, never visited a diesel enthusiast web-site, have no idea about all of the issues, the number of folks with problems gets much larger. I have a neighbor I do not know very well. He bought an 04 F-250 6.0. I never stopped by to speak with him about it. He kept it a little over a year and I saw a D-max in his driveway. I saw him washing one day and stopped by and asked him about his 6.0. He was one of those folks in number 2 category. He told me he could not keep it out of the shop and everytime they "did something to it", i.e. reflash it seemed to run worse so he finally dumped it. When I told him the whole story he seemed stunned since his dealer never told him anything about the problems. His was leaking the day he traded it in. I think there are lots of folks out there like that. Folks here on TDS did not run up 500 million in repairs by themselves. I hope the 6.4 is better, it just has to be.

If you guys don't like FoMoCo products, why did you buy them and WHY do you drive them? Just wondering?
[/ QUOTE ]
You see that is just the perception problem that is out there. I DO like Ford products. I want one of the new diesels. I just don't trust it after being burned on my 6.0. At this point in time Ford makes the best pure "truck" for the consumer. My 97 F-350 7.3 is great, no problems at all save a CPS replacement at about 90,000 miles did it myself in 10 minutes. But what a lot of folks don't understand is that the more that you have loved and supported a companies products (by in my case purchasing over 5 new Ford trucks in the last 25 years), the more it hurts when you get screwed by them, and I got screwed and so did thousands of others in the 6.0 debacle. I want them to succeed, but I am not going to ignore the problems and I am not going to place my head in the sand again and blindly trust that this new engine is going to get the job done. Gonna take proof this time. I hope this helps you understand some of my negative posts, and others too.

Gee, where did I say that I don't like FoMoCo products? Love my 2002 7.3-L.
Except for the crummy clutch hydraulics (replaced once just outside of
warranty), its been a great truck. No problems with the 7.3-L engine.
Ford's quality on the 6.0-L is below par and their handling of warranty
claims on the 6.0-L also appears to be a problem. Hopefully, they'll
get back on track with the 6.4-L. But I won't be a Ford guinea pig on
that one. I'll wait at least a year, maybe two years, to see how it
goes. My factory 5-year warranty runs out on the 7.3-L in a few months.
Then I've got two years left on the extended warranty. So that gives me
time to see how the 6.4-L, and Ford's handling of its warranty claims,
shakes out.

I have a lot of those conversations at the fuel pumps too. And more than once I've talked to someone who used to own a 6.0L and is now driving a Dodge Ram Cummins truck! They've described their nightmare scenarios in too much detail to just be fuel pump trolls, in case that's what you're thinking. One guy I know real well but only see once a year was driving a new RAM because after the second ENGINE REPLACEMENT on his 2003 6.0L truck he decided to trade it quick while it still had any value.
As much as I like my 6.0L truck (when it's not in the shop, which has been 2-3 times a year since I bought it) there's simply no point to people continuing to try to deny that it's a problem child. Ford admits it (in roundabout ways), why can't everyone else?

Duncan I been in the trenches around here with you and others since the launch of the 6.0. I have read the "perfect truck" posts and I have read the "6.0 sucks" posts, thousands and thousands of them. I still hang around here. Why. I get good information, lots of smart folks here, have a few friends and most of all because regardless I am a Ford guy. Yeah I like Toyota's and Honda's too. But all that aside I want to see Ford make it. I drove my Grand dad's 1957 model, his 1963 model and have in my garage his 1975 F-100 that he gave me when he died, 47000 original miles. Runs like the day he bought it. A treasure to me in many ways. Like you I don't understand the brand loyal denials about the 6.0 mess, but it happened and you can't re-write history. I hope the 6.4 starts a new chapter, one without problems.
