Looking at some of the pictures that have been posted of the '08 at the Texas State Fair, couple of pictures are of the underside front of the truck. I noticed zerk fittings on the ball joints/king pins. I do not know if '05+ trucks have the zerks, but I do know my '04 doesn't. Has Ford finally realized it is good to be able to grease a much used joint and save warranty money by being able to lube the joint on a scheduled maintenance. Sure would be nice. If only they would do the same for the u-joints.

Kingpins were replaced by ball joints, in autos and some pick-ups.
Dunno if there was EVER a greasable ball joint from the factory.
In the mid 50's when they made their grand entrance, life was verrry short.
I worked in a service station back in the 80s. There was plenty of greasable ball joints back then. I greased my share of them.

Not trying to split "hairs," but I believe the 1997 F-SuperDuty/ F-450, used king pins in their solid axles.
Hopefully, the newer trucks will at least have grease zerks on the ball joints. Also, I noticed in some of the pictures that the front u-joints have zerks too.

I have no clue what the 2wd models had, but none of the 4wd dana 60 models since 1991 had Kingpins.
And since we are looking at 4wd axles, that is what I am referring to.
I would think that even the current F450, or F550 trucks without 4WD would still be using a kingpin setup on the front wheels.
I could be wrong. I'm just judging from the style of axle that is installed. I know that my parents have a 99 F53 I think it is.... the RV chassis version of the F550. It has a straight axle with king pins. I figured this was the same for the F550, maybe not the F450. But I haven't really messed with those at all. They're nice and easy to take care of... I just grease the fitting on the bottom, then I jack up the axle taking weight off the wheel & knuckle, grease the top knuckle fitting, and set'er back down, and the grease goes 'smoosh'.
My '06 4X2 and my '06 4X4 have Ball Joints .... No King Pins... And No, neither have grease fittings ... They even took away my zerk fittings on the tierod assy compaired to my previous trucks...
I remember helping my dad replace the kingpin bushings on a used school bus back in 1963 before we used it to move to Iowa. The way that frontend was constructed it would never have worked as a 4WD because the pin was long and extended top to bottome across the area the axle would have been.

they use a different style in the older 4wd f350's......
99-current f450's use a solid tube axle with balljoints on the end, and some F550's use the same solid tube with balljoints at the end................

4WD king pins are two piece.
