Guide...troubleshooter

Now that I am on the verge of owning yet another awesome Ford truck I have come to a semi-comfortable conclusion about this 6.4L PSD. The majority of us still have questions and concerns. I know I do as I am going into a new truck with this Ca emissions DPF system. That is why I read every where through this forum along with its cousin Socal Diesels.

They are the same in Liters but differ from day to night between each engine built. Many have a common thread genetically and are somewhat similair in their problems, glitches, and owners concerns but there seems to be a disconnect to each engine itself.

The win win aka: saving grace..... is that the problems incurred by the majority are so close if not a duplication to a common complaint they can be traced back to something that somebody else experienced. They are great starting points to use as a reference guide.

Now that brings me to this next topic. There are many here whom have shared these problems in this page and got their rigs fixed either by the F mechanics or after market products, mostly tunes/flashes. Many of us have been either by gift...talented enough and forced, didn't want to deal with it, or just wasn't comfortable in their skillset with doing their own mechanical work ( which is most likely where I fit in) and had the work done by qualified F mechanics.

Either way, we have all contributed.

On that note.....has anybody considered creating a little on line PDF here which folks could contribute to? Each thread could contain a topic like CAC , DPF, ERG valves, or anything else. The sub topics could include symptoms, problems, repairs , estimated prices and results. Then as each poster replied to it they could add where it fit in.

Whatever problems we have had or currently experience could be posted up. A diagnosis guide and what to focus on.

I see we have a bible for the F-series truck, why not a trouble shooters guide? Take a little guess work out of symptoms and at least give the layman a little knowledge to take to his F mechanic or fix himself.

Could that be considered a sticky? Is this a crazy thought? Am I on the pipe...again? I am still learning here so feedback would be helpful. My only disclaimer is I am not techy savy enough to create it so I post it where maybe somebody with skills can message this around a bit and come up with an idea.

I will add these pages offer up the same advice but you go on a journey hunting and pecking trying to find that info unless you create your own little book and ad stuff, but I just don't think it is the same as having a troubleshooters guide.

I think this is a very good idea. Something the layman could understand, with info. we all could use. Or should I say "What he said"

Thanks,
David

i think the issue at this point is that few of us have fixed the trucks ourselves. Its still under warranty, i've let ford deal with it all. Except the few problems i had with my original lift
