Re: Has anyone used a Tru Speed Speedometer Recalibration
1Bigred - I was going to say a truspeed or any other speedometer correction device is not going to fix a problem light in your cluster
The way ford does it is 3 sensors, as long as they all match - everybody is happy, just the speedometer will read wrong.
anyway, This is a common problem on trucks however, not on new ones
Its called a tone ring, and it goes in the rear diff, and the sensor is mounted to the top of the gear housing and reads the pulses provided by this tone ring (toothed gear)
It is possible that the sensor was not tightened down all the way (i have seen that happen on a GMC before)
The email notification does not work for me, so if theres a pressing question you have and I don't pop in here in a few days just mail me or PM and remind me to pop in, I have quite a bit of experience with the speed signals - especially on F250 + super duties from 1999 - 2008
They did fix it under warrentee right?
I would ask why it was bad, was it the mechanical location or was the sensor bad?
Re: Has anyone used a Tru Speed Speedometer Recalibration
They did fix it under warranty after a little arguing....tried to blame it on larger wheels and tires. The part that was bad was inside the diff so I asume it was the mechanical part. FYI TruSpeed said to use the unit for the 06 as it will be the same that they have in R & D and works fine.

Re: Has anyone used a Tru Speed Speedometer Recalibration
Glad they fixed it for you under warren tee...
I have tried to contact super lift about some stuff and never got through. I would expect their 1999-2004 box to be the same as the 2005-2008 box, I know the speed correction device I am familiar with will work and has been tested on at least one of each year 1999-2007, and the Ford DVD's did not have any difference between 2007 and 2008 so I would have to think it will work the same - apparently that is true.
37" tires and 4.88 gears, that thing must be a monster!
