I believe this message was a fix to the "Flameflower" issue. My guess is there's an injector and/or DPF problem where the temperatures are too high.

As mentioned above, the message has to do with the computer seeing excessive EGT's and it is trying to protect its self...
STOP SAFELY NOW (Diesel engine only)
Displayed when the vehicle exhaust system temperature exceeds intended operating range. If this warning occurs, the engine power is reduced and the engine will shutdown when the vehicle speed is below 3 mph (5 km/h). Stop the vehicle as soon as safely possible and contact your authorized dealer. Depending on the severity of the over-temperature condition, the vehicle may or may not restart after cycling the ignition off. If the vehicle restarts, there may be limited power, or there could be full function. If the exhaust over-temperature condition reoccurs the message center will display, STOP SAFELY NOW, the chime will sound, the engine power will be reduced again and shut down below 3 mph (5km/h).

Well, I went to pick him up and the Ford 800 number had him try all these resets and whatnot to no avail.... I got there about 45 minutes after the ordeal went down. I told him to try it and it fired off with a CEL on. He moved the truck to a more suitable spot for the flatbed and it went into regen for 15 minutes until the wrecker got there. He shut it off during the regen. It got loaded and off it went. So.... he said the Ford operator said that message appears during an engine overheat. But the truck was at normal temps. Either a bad temp sender or could be the exhaust temp ordeal like said. We'll know tomorrow am. My SA and 2 techs said they've never seen that one before and can't wait till the morning. They've had really good luck with their 6.4's. Till tomorrow........ he did get to go for a fun ride in the new Jeep though. He dug it!

Too bad he didn't break down at the Carraba's in Austin Texas, he could have ate, slept in the truck and be the first in line at the Ford dealer right next door.
Wow.... I forgot all about this thread. Here's the update, they couldn't get the truck to duplicate the issue but they did change the EGT sensor and he has had no issues yet.

Welp, ROUND 2. It happend again. It got towed to the dealer, he went to Dom. Rep. to go fishing and they still have it. He got back the other day to find out that they couldn't duplicate the isuue. The tech took it home for the weekend 2x and drove it all weekend and couldn't do it. One more time and it's a lemon. The only problem is all the stereo and dynomat and lift he had done. I sure hope they can figure this thing out. Funny thing is Ford said for the dealer to take off his air box(his ONLY mod) andput a stock one on saying that was the problem. Our writer told Ford they're full of it and that's not the root. Even the "Ford Tech. Guy" came to look at it. Who knows..... Anyone else have this issue before?

I would guess a sticking or leaking injector. That seems to be the root cause of this issue. Maybe even a bad wiring harness to an injector thats shorting out or something.
