HFCM any better to get to???

To anyone of you that have the 08...Is the HFCM, frame mounted fuel filter, any better to get to to allow for easier draining?

Re: HFCM any better to get to???

I crawled under one the other day to see if they had improved the HFCM setup and the salesman said he'd shown the new trucks to over a hundred
people and I was the FIRST person to crawl under one (?!?). The HFCM is in the same place but now has a lever that you open rather than a
screw-in plug. The strange thing about the truck I was looking at (KR F-250 CC) was that there was a huge wire bundle right behind the HFCM
where the filter is located. I tried to move the wire bundle out of the way and it was really stiff and hard to move so I asked the salesman
'how the hell is someone going to remove the filter with that wire bundle in front of it' and he just said "I have no idea"...

[/ QUOTE ] Ford probably did that on purpose so you will have to bring it in for the techs to do.

Yes, it requires tool number D-3489w2 or equivalent, which is a wire harness stretcher.

Kidding.

My salesman did give me the run down about emptying it. Nothing was said about the filter.

Re: HFCM any better to get to???

HFCM is easier to empty but the same to actually change the filter. The company did make put a lever on it, also use a nippple to aid in draining it. But the filter is in the exact position for exchange.
