High Pitched Whine/Hum

Has anyone had this problem or know what it may be-

There is a high pitched whine/hum for the past few days that I have not noticed before. It's not super loud, but you definitely know it's there (especially at idle). It gets slightly louder as you start to move, but then I think it gets drowned out by the sound of the engine cuz I dont hear it as much while driving.

I sent my dealer a quick email about it, and the guy said that is the normal idle of these trucks and he has noticed it on others as well. The truck has almost 1,000 miles and I've never noticed it before

Re: High Pitched Whine/Hum

Thanks Mike. I don't notice mine while driving though (i.e. - not at 2k RPM like goldfish is experiencing)... only at idle really.

Re: High Pitched Whine/Hum

thatn clamp is where my exhaust leak is. It goes in the shop Tuesday. the noise has gotten louder and more frequent. I believe it is the turbo that we can here. sounds like a tea kettle about 2k rpm.

Thats a 50/50 deal. Pretty good odds for a gambling woman.

Re: High Pitched Whine/Hum

My 2008 f350 6.4 turbo makes a high pitch squeal when I get to around 40 psi of boost. It also only does it after a couple of hours of driving(engine really warmed up). Will never do it at beginning of trip no matter how much boost.
Had Ford tech on ride along with data computer plugged in, towing 5th whl, and up a decent grade, but couldn't reproduce noise.
Anyone heard of this situation?
