104,000 ony 09 f450 with no problems since I bought new but after reading all the post about motor replacements I don't know of this truck is worth keeping any longer, the problem is I have 3 years of payments left and am not financially to by a new truck right now and I put on 30 k a year in my business, so should I be really scared of this truck or are there lots of 6.4 out there with good track records

Met a transporter today with a 08 f450, 300,000 miles! He is on his third engine. He said the last one lasted the longest, the first two were in the first 100k miles.

Unfortunatly it was a quick conversation. My guess is failing fuel injectors, head gasket/bolts or egr coolers kill these 6.4's.

2008 King Ranch Crew Cab-8'bed-4wd. 178,800 miles and have owned since new. I pull 7 different trailers moving our construction equipment average 400 to 600 miles jobsite to jobsite. At 138,000 miles extended warranty covered replacement of both turbos-were not out, just seeping a little. I paid to have both enternal coolers and oil cooler replace with products from Bullet Proof in Phoenix. Lifetime warranty on parts. Transmission serviced every 50,000 miles. Royal Purple 15w-40 in engine since day I brought home in fall of 2008. Delete exhaust-open except for muffler. Never had a major problem. Never added oil between changes. Truck no babied- pull my trailers 75 and 80 on interstate. This is one tough puppie.

103,000

Just bought my early 08 last month. All stock loaded Lariet, crew cab, longbed. It had radiator replaced in 09. It runs great. I think I have a crack in my down tube becuase it has a whistle ing at low rpm's
I sold my 01 7.3 w/225K for this one. I plan on it lasting me till 225K.

Why...? This all seems like upper wear issues? How often did you do your oil changes?

Hi,

Took delivery of our 6.4 in May 07, mileage now reading 18,000 miles. 80% of usage is towing a 10,000lb Airstream.

Fuel filters changed at 10,000 miles. Engine oil & filter changed every 4-5,000 miles.

Only issues - sensor on master cylinder for brake controller and venturi
T fitted.

Great truck.

How often is oil changed and just as important-want brand and weight of oil?
This sounds like a lubrication issue. I had two 7.3's, two 6.0's and the current
6.4. Never had a cam or lifter failure.
