With the warmer weather, mine has not done a stopped regen for over 1000 miles. I have not noticed a driving regen either. Before it got warm out, I would regen at about 300 to 500 miles, depending on conditions. Since my last oil change, it has not wasted any fuel. With the manual trans, I always know when it regens. I am due soon I am sure.

Exclamation

It will regen as often as it needs to to keep the DPF clean and at a set back pressure.

I was using the SCT to monitor my regens. Mine is/was doing a regen every 50 miles, lasted about 10 minutes give or take 13 miles, since it was always on the highway when it happened.

Catch 22...the slower I drive to save fuel..the more often I regen!! I am regenning every 80 miles in mixed city/highway driving..not towing...keeping my foot out of it. Am about to leave for summer..towing 5th wheel...am hoping increased exhaust heat will space the regens out...but we will see.

Got 5500 on mine, stick shift, have yet to notice a regen. Never any performance or smoking issues. Don't know if it makes a diff, but I accelerate HARD every chance I get. Not too fuel efficient, I know, but this tactic kept my 6.0 free of EGR headaches for 50,000 miles.

More or less, regen, short for regeneration is the process of dumping lots of fuel into the system to super heat the DPF filter to burn accumulated soot out of the filter. Ford's seem to regen more frequently than for instance Cummins, probably just design issues. This is a very simplistic explanation of a complex process.

My 550 regens every 70-100 miles empty and 50 miles or less pulling.

It has been my understanding that Dodge went with a passive regen vs. the active that Ford and Chevy have. I'm not real sure what that means, but I have heard that Dodge is having more DPF problems than the other two

I think my DPF is plugged or something is wrong. Friday I was in regen almost as many miles as not, Pulling empty flatbed trailer most of the miles and $300 plus in fuel for the day with a 6.6 avg hand cal economy running 60 mph or slower most of the time.
Wondering if the bad injector I had replaced last month overfueled enough to plug the exhaust filter with ash. I had three complete regen cycles from Rifle Colorado to Grand Junction, less than 100 miles.

My regens last no more than 20 miles. I have noticed my regens are more and more frequent. I used to average 400 miles between them and now it is about 250 between them. My 08 has 58k on it and its a smoker since day one. Smoking more and more. drive 200 a day minimum highway

My truck (while hauling my 40' 5th wheel) goes through a regen every other fillup. I have noticed that the harder I work the engin (higher exhaust temp) the fewer times I regen.

I'm coming up on 25,000 miles on mine and have only noticed 3 regens since new! I've had black sooty tailpipes also since new. I also noticed a couple of days ago while backing up a pretty steep driveway looking in the little mirror on the bottom so I could see my back tire the truck was putting out some pretty decent black smoke! I really don't know what all this means, just my observations. My truck is a job 1, no real problems at all so far except for radiator at 18,000 miles, I got the seat re-call thing done about a month ago, I get 13-14 MPG here in the hills of WV and 16-17 on the big road. I've just about decided to just drive the truck, push the little computer button until somewhere where it doesn't show the MPG and maybe put a piece of black tape over the boost guage! I've had this truck for a year now and am getting tired of continually being stressed out over fuel mileage, little noises, smoke, regens, no regens, soot in the tailpipe, LSD, ULSD, Diesel Kleen, etc.
