odd because when my father in laws truck lost the vacuum pump when i was driving it, it lost the brakes also, care to explain?
Its a 97 CC F350

The vacuum brakes your referencing from the add is in the standard equipment package which would change with the diesel motor. Not saying you cant get vacuum brakes just saying that ad isn't really helping to show whether its available or not.

I looked up your father in laws truck in alldata just now.

1997 F350 7.3 diesel

Brake Vacuum Pump
Position 3 which is the 2nd thing down looking at the front of the engine on the drivers side.
Part # 2L487

So yep that truck has a real belt driven vacuum pump.
I can look up any vehicle up to 2005 model year.

You might be correct.

I don't have the circular, as the dealer had it only for his own use, so it might have been in reference to the gas engine.

I have within the last few minutes run across another site which shows the vacuum brake available on gas but does not show it available on the diesel.

But then again, I could not determine whether the site was up to date and spec-ing job 3 builds.

Ford puts out a very detailed description of each job build and its changes over the previous job, but I can't find it.

It failed again.

If you want to see the original, do an advanced search using "60th anniversary" and you will get it.

Nap time.

Still kind of looks like ad marketing speak like the ad you found ealier. I have no problem believing that a vacuum pump would be an option seeing as the earlier trucks had them and all just Im not sure if that info really shows for sure if its still an option on the diesel or not.
I cant look anything up past 2005 on alldata and have no idea where to find info on new truck builds.

Who knows

The vacuum brakes are supposed to be standard on Job 3 Power Strokes F-250's and SW F-350. If it's anything to think about, i saw a job 3 that had hydro boost brakes on the options list on the window sticker. I think it has to be forced by dual alts. or by some other means. SmokeyWren went over this a couple weeks ago.

That would make sense. I bet they are swapping the vacuum pump for the 2nd alt mounting wise.

That was the information I posted from Bobby William's webpage I posted earlier. You were too busy calling me out to READ it.

I am not sure that I believe it though.

The F-Superduty had hydro. All OBS F250-350s are vacuum. Per the parts catalog here at my job. A vacuum pump failure (which was common) on a SRW truck would cause problems. Thats why in 1998 (1999 models) Ford quit using them. I am puzzled why they would take a step backwards. I will take a look at some job 3 trucks today.

I have a job 3 Lariat SRW Crew with the heavy duty Alt. I looked up my VIN on Fords site and it lists my truck with having the Hydroboost brakes.
