A biodiesel user who is part of the San Francisco Biofuels group recently blew up his truck, a brand-new Ford F350. It's quite a story, and he's given AutoblogGreen permission to relay his tale to our readers, who I think will enjoy this heartbreaker.

I am not sure what to make of that story. If it's true, Ford crawfished pretty quick, going from cut us a check for 17K to here's a new truck The bottom line Ford is not going to cover a fuel related issue anyway, bad ULSD or bad Bio,Ford can't control what we put in the tank. Now if they say no more than B5 & you run B100 & blow up the motor, who's fault is that?

Wow.... they had a problem with their truck and after Ford figured it out they're being taken care of. Yeah it sucks it happend, but, the first initial inspection and diagnosis could have been WAY off and that's why Ford sent someone in who is more than likely a little more knowledgable than the Mech. who first looked at it. Congrats to them on being taken care of. Everyone knows a first year model can be a bear..... look at the 03's. I also know MANY new owners around town that own the new 08's and are happier than a tornado in a trailer park.

I ran alot of B100(not home-made biodiesel) thru my F350 which when I sold at 80+thousand miles had no adverse problems, never had any problems to speak of with the truck other than the Calif DMV forcing me to reflash twice...
Runk

You said the key words congrats on them being taken care of and that's what it's all about when something goes wrong how the company takes care of the customer. (tornado in a trailer park LOL)

Agreed. Seems that Ford is stepping up in places where before challenges would be commnon. If Ford corporate has people reading - please pass on my respects to Alan and the "new" direction. i truly feel that the early recall to disaster plan a potential failure was evidence of a step forward. Not denial - just fix it quickly and move on.
I have almost 300 miles on my 6.4 been through one regen without event and truly love the truck. What an upgrade from the 99 to the 05 to the 08. Just don't steal my pilot injection.

I totally agree. This is an excellent point. Who has to fill up with 200 miles on their tank??
Being that he lives in SanFran and runs Biodiesel, he may, but isn't neccesarily, an environmentalist who requested the dealership not fill the tank more than just a little bit. I really wish this guy would end up having to pay for this. It was HIS fault. He shouldn't have gotten all that publicity, which is really why ford fixed it for free.
