I checked my mileage by calculator for the first time, I got....

...12.0017 mpg with my shortbed dually (3.73 gears) 4x4 crew cab in combined highway/local driving. I have about 2,200 miles on this truck. Note, this is filling the truck filler line to the top, absolutely no more room for any fuel each time. My computer says I'm getting 11.5 mpg as of today.

That's Cool,it looks like they are getting the Lie-O-Meters calibrated better than they used to.

Re: I checked my mileage by calculator for the first time, I got....

If I get on it slightly and I do mean slightly, it drops down to 11.4 or 11.3 and it'll take a while for it to rise back up to 11.5.

I expect at about 5,000 to 8,000 miles it'll settle into it's 13.5 of 14 mpg, just like my 6.0l dually.

Most of the time the lie-o-meter is not too far off. But the last time it showed 12.6 and the calculator showed 14.4

I have a little short if 15,000 miles.

Re: I checked my mileage by calculator for the first time, I got....

I agree. I just picked my 2008 F-350 SuperDuty up on Friday. I also noticed that if I put my foot in it the lie-o-meter goes down fast and takes forever to come back up. On the first tank from the dealer I got around 13-mpg hand calculated (lie–o-meter was within two tenths). I am on my second tank and the meter says 17.2 (all highway miles). I only have 400 miles on her. My old truck would lose less and recover more mpg after pulling a hill. But I also had a manual in the old truck and could hold it in overdrive. When this new truck shifts down it rocks you back in your seat!! A cool feeling but it cost you mpg.

Re: I checked my mileage by calculator for the first time, I got....

I had 202 miles when I filled up last nite and w/ 60 miles of that with a 3500-4000lb boat in tow the rest 60/40 in town and on highway driving I was at 13.2 and the liar gauge said 13.8. I short stopped because I was heading to the dealership this morning for an oil change and the pcm flash recall. It will be interesting to see what that recall does to the mileage...it was just starting to get what the gassers get.

The first tank I got 9.6 mpg w/ no load for 300 miles so it has improved. I have right around 8500 miles.

Re: I checked my mileage by calculator for the first time, I got....

mine is horrible. never noticed any improved mileage for any of my diesels. the 6.4 is strong puller, bubt it uses the fuel. i am lucky to get 11, and thats if i really get all the lights, and drive very easy. drive normal and its 10, maybe 10.4, maybe 9.8 empty in town.

6SPDMANUAL, I think I figured out why you're getting such bad mileage. Don't look now, but you've been dragging a 5 story building around town. It looks like it's stuck to your bumper. (saw pic in your sig).

Seriously, nice rig(s).

I find this to be an honest assessment of the fuel mileage of the 6.4, verified by non-member friends who are driving them around. Not good.

Re: I checked my mileage by calculator for the first time, I got....

An honest assessment of what truck? A 10,000lbs F-450 long bed DRW or a 7000lbs F-250 SRW Short bed? Looking at the posts mileage varies depending on the truck. What mpg are people getting with 2007 F-450’s 6.0’s compared to 2008 F-450’s 6.4’s. Is there that much of a difference? Just wondering? I hope my MPG improves but my truck appears to be capable of 17 plus mpg with only 400 miles on it. The Lie-o-meter was over 18 for a while.
