I have a Job 1. 8K miles and as of yet the only thing I have done is had the headlight lenses replaced due to fogging. 5K rebate sounds good. Enjoy the great fuel mileage....

I have a Job1 truck, built May 9, 2007. Now has 11,000 miles, over 5,000 of those miles pulling a 22,000lb fifth wheel trailer. Truck has ben fabulous(can't believe I used that word, but it indeed fits how good this truck is). I did have a seep from the engine coolant radiator that was replaced under warranty. What do you give up with a Job1 truck? Larger air dam below the front bumper, a chrome package(I only like the chrome exhaust tip) and the back up camera option. For 5 grand in rebates, I think I would buy it. Just don't let the salesman cloud the purchase deal with the rebate #'s. Buy with an X-plan, take the savings and the rebates. I saved over 8 grand off of MSRP with X-plan and rebates.

I think it's time we got this job 1,2 & 3 thing cleared up! Some people talk like the job 1 trucks were some type of beta test trucks. It's my understanding that there is no difference in all 3, just options available. Mine is an XLT so the options are limited anyway. I think all three have the same 6.4 diesel engine, same transmission, etc. I know that some of the first trucks built had radiator problems but with over 18,000 miles my radiator is fine. I talked to a guy this morning at the post office, he had a black Lariat. I asked him if he'd had any problems. He said he had the power steering pump replaced (first I'd heard of that one) but other than that he had no problems. He said he was getting 18 MPG around here in the hills and 22 MPG on the highway. So I backed up a couple of steps when he said that! I asked him what his build date was and he said 2008. So I assumed he had a job 3, but when he backed out of his parking spot I noticed he had the short air dam so he had a job 1. Anyway, I don't think job1, job2 or job3 are totally different trucks. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

Thanks for the replies, with all the talk about Job numbers I was a little concerned, but this forum has helped alot, I'm getting truck at invoice (which is about $ 120 above X plan) and $ 5000 rebate I figure I can't go wrong. Thanks again.

Only downside is that some of the job1 trucks have been on dealer lots for up to a year. Same rebates and prices are avaib. on job 3 trucks also.

I would love to know how you are getting a $5,000 rebate. The best I found was $3,000. In my area, it's $2,500, and my dealer is one of those limited delares that can lock in the incentives at the time of order, so I have been waiting for better rebates to come along. I passed up an opportunity a few weeks ago when they had the old inventory clearance and Ford offered an additional $1,000 if you took a Job 1 truck. My dealer couldn't find one. Since then, I have found one I can easily live with for a year, but won't "settle" for it unless there is some cash in incentives - especially when my dealer can lock me into the best incentive available while I wait for my order to come in.
