Job #3 or #2?

I have found at local dealerships a job 2 that i really like (solid gray) and a job 3 (gray w/black on bottom) that is ok (further away). They are both similarily equipped lariats and the solid gray is about $500 less w/couple of extra options (due to price increases from 2 to job 3). Are thier any differences between job 2&3 that should be concerned about, as i like the job 2 truck better? Thanks for your input.

The detailed differences are in the official Ford order guides. Go to Sunrise Ford Fleet, 16005 Valley Blvd, Fontana, Ca, 92335 and download the order guide for your model. It's in there.

The biggie is the difference in the "power" brakes. For '99-up PSDs, the brakes were hydroboost - i.e., hydraulic powered instead of vacuum powered. Diesels don't make vacuum, so it made sense to not have to add a big vacuum pump to make the power brakes work. Hydroboost brakes use the power steering pump to make the hydraulic power needed for the hydroboost brakes.

One disadvantage of the hydroboost brakes was some younger drivers didn't know how to drive. They wanted to turn the steering wheel while standing on the brakes at the same time. But the pump wasn't strong enough to allow you to do that. So some complaints from owners about the power steering not working. Vacuun-powered brakes shouldn't have that problem if the vacuum pump is strong enough.

So beginning with Job 3, most of the SRW pickups now have vacuum-assist brakes instead of hydroboost. "Real" trucks with dual rear wheels still have hydro-boost. You can still get hydro-boost brakes on SRW pickups if you order dual altenators. (No, I don't know why.)

Thanks for the input guys, which braking system is preferred?? I have an 03 and have never had problems with the hydro, don't know enough about the vacuum assist. Will the hydroboost be more reliable? Anyone know of any updated parts/software used on job3 as opposed to job2? Will be deciding monday so i make sure and get the deal done before the end of the month (0% )! Thanks again.
